The Kansas game was bad, but the KSU game was the most painful to listen to. ISU was up by 10 and really playing well. The home crowd was completely out of the game, and then ISU screws up and bang it is all over, just like so many games in the past. One thng GC has really been emphisizing is for the players to try and keep a more even keel emotionally.
A major benefit of the season starting has to be the burial of these replays. After Aug 30 we never have to see these ever again.:swoon:
I was at the KSU game, and of the 3 road trips SF and I took last year, it was technically the shortest drive by far but it felt like the longest. It was sickingly disgusting, and the team managed to do something that doesn't happen often - in the 4th quarter I didn't even want to cheer, I just wanted to leave. The cheerleaders were actually the only ones keeping cheering at all... (And ask Superfan - I was in very rare form in the 3rd quarter - the entire third quarter I was on my feet cheering and starting cheers) :arghh:
The ONLY saving grace of that day... it was the end of Day Lights Savings, so we had an hour and a half in the bars when we got back to Ames rather than a half hour...
A lot of those same guys are back for more this year:) I hope we are better, but it might take a couple years to break these habits.
The one good think to come out of the KSU game is we had a Hawkeye friend that we refused to let tailgate with us if he was going to wear his Hawk shirt so we forced him into wearing an ISU shirt. Took pictures so that we could embarass him later. :)
Jeez guys, I read that first post and I got the feeling that the season had begun on THIS Thurs. Damn near gave me a heart attack.
We were REALLY bad last year. Mercifully the season only lasted 12 games (although I think that Kansas just scored AGAIN), or we would still be taking *** whoopins.
I don't what sick, twisted part of you wants to subject yourself to these awful memories once more, but I do know the name of a good therapist who might be able to help you with these feelings of self loathing that you are experiencing.
