    What's on the grill Thursday?

So one of my favorite things about tailgating is the food.
Personally, I usually keep it simple with some burgers and brats, but I have friends that grill some pretty impressive grub.
What are your favorite tailgating eats?
The best idea given may earn a spot on my grill on Thursday.

We're bringing in Hickory Park because no one in our group is taking off work early enough to grill

We're leaving Ankeny at 8am Thursday. We'll be in Lot S8 and are thinking about doing breakfast on the grill! Eggs, bacon, sausage (maybe soaked in some beer of course). We usually do the usual....burgers, brats, etc!!! I'd love to hear of other ideas!!!!

Re: What's on the grill Thursday?

    A couple of my favorites:

Of course, the staple for us this week will be Johnsonville Brats. It's the only way to fly.

Chili (if you make it properly with good beans, steak, and some good peppers) is always a good option on those cold Saturdays/Sundays.

If you have some tinfoil, take some time and roast your own peanuts on the grill.

For those morning games, FG and I's best pickup last year was a skillet at 4 a.m. in Norman. There's nothing like scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns on a grill in the marnin'.

    Ribeyes. 'Nuff said.

Re: What's on the grill Thursday?

It is a tough call for my favorite. A lot of times we'll do a turkey roll injected with any number of marinades (cajun being my personal favorite).

The other top option we found in the CR Gazette a few years ago. You slice a pork loin, load it up with brats, and tie it up. Then season it as you wish. We use Butt Rub and beer, sticking it in a bag and letting it marinade for a while. Just wrap it in foil and stick it on the grill. Gooooood stuff.

The NCC lots don't officially open until 1 p.m. on Thursday, because it's a midweek game. If it were a Saturday game, they'd be open at 7 a.m.

If we bring the smoker over we will do Ribs or Pork Shoulder. If we bring over a regular grill we will probably do some steak sandwiches.

I am guessing there may be a Bass or Smithwicks involved during the day.

Thursday I'm going to get drive-thru because I get out of class at 4 and I want more time to catch up than to worry about grilling something.

Re: What's on the grill Thursday?

I think were gonna shave up some prime rib for some Philly's. With some green pep's ad onions. We did em last year once and the were great and very easy. We just need a few aluminum foil cookware dishes.

We do something different every game, but we try and keep it easy and do whatever we can before hand so we can actually enjoy the tailgate and not run around our tent for several hours messing with food. That really takes away from the beer time.

I'm excited for tailgating... we just did a mock tail gate in my apartment parking lot this afternoon for lunch, and now I really can't wait for football to start
