I'm back again to wondering why we are playing this game on Thursday. It's not on TV. I can't believe it's easier to sell tickets for a Thursday game over a Saturday game even if it is Labor day. And it's a huge hassle for a lot of people. I really hope they move the games back to Saturday only unless they get a good TV package for it. I absolutely hate the Thursday game.

The no TV thing is perplexing.
However this would be the 2nd straight year we've done the Thursday night game without TV. So there must be something to it.

I think a big reason is because the students will be on campus for a Thursday game. If it was Saturday you would probably get most of them but not all because of the holiday weekend.

Has Mediacom made any mention why they are not covering this game. Seems wierd this is the mediacom classic game with no mediacom tv.
Although, I guess Marty and Miller were also saying Mediacom messed up this last weekend with the horse racing at Prairie Meadows advertising that they would be live and not showing it till the next day... OOPS....
I don't mind the Thursday night game since I now live in central iowa. Although I won't be able to tailgate. |

I think the student fan base would be just as strong on Saturday. This is my 7th year with children at ISU and I've never had one come home for this weekend. Why would they? Living in Ames and going to ISU is fun.

Personally, I love the Thursday games but only in this type of situation (Holiday weekend). It wouldn't make sense any other weekend...

I agree, there would be at least 2000 less students at the game. These are mostly freshmen who can't drink, want to go back and see high school friends, and aren't pumped up enough yet about the football team to want to see Kent State.

I agree, there are a lot of students who leave town for Labor Day. I never have, but I will be this weekend to help my parents with their new house in Des Moines. It's nice in this instance, but I also like the Thursday night game because it gives you something to look forward to after a long day of classes.
Last year was a great atmosphere leading up to the Toledo game, with everyone in their Cyclone gear and the game day traffic that filled the streets while walking to class. I wouldn't like doing that every weekend (it sucks for us who can't tailgate until an hour or two before kickoff.), but it's a nice change of pace.

I will tell you why, because Thurday gets here before Saturday and I don't think I could wait all the way until Saturday. Also we get to watch the other great opening weekend games that are on Saturday.

Really sucks for those of us that have to put the pedal to the metal to try and make the game by kickoff, let alone tailgate.

I LOVE the Thursday night game. Gives me a reason to take off Thursday and Friday to make it a 5 day weekend.
It also allows me to watch all the Saturday games on tv.
Save some vacation time and at least take Thursday off. Everyone gets vacation right?

I think the main reason is Jamie wants families to have the weekend for family things- reunions, camping, etc.
