I hate that sorry ***** excuse that it was his first collegiate football game and he was probably nervous. He shouldn't be out there if that is the case. Put Sumrall, Moses, or hell even Blythe back there because if Sandvig would have lost those two fumbles, ISU would have lost by a lot more than they did.
There are plenty of guys on the team who can catch punts. Catching the ball first is the most important, then running. Sandvig can probably do a lot of good things, but I see no reason for putting him back into the same situation. With two muffs already, one more and you shoot his confidence for the rest of the season, and he's needed on defense. I'd put my money on a veteran back there.
I was surprised they didn't try somebody else in the 4th quarter. If GC is giving guys three games to prove themselves, I hope Zac doesn't fumble one that costs us the UNI or Iowa game. Whether it's nerves or inexperience, I think fumblitis is a hard thing to get out of your system.
