Goodbye bandwagon fans
And good ridance. Maybe I'm being a little self righteous tonight... but we hit one bump on a rocky road and people are already bailing. This must be why Europeans hate America... we demand instant results.
*EDIT*
I"ll cut some of the personal mud slinging...
But seriously people, it's gonna take a little time. Yes, some of you have been waiting a long time. Sorry, but you'll have to wait a few more. Thats reality, and quiting on the team isn't going to speed that up

Re: Goodbye bandwagon fans
I second that, Flag Guy. Last night was our baseline. And everyone knows you can't tell ANYTHING from your baseline.
I can't wait to see how Chizik and Boys develop. Inability to adapt was the leading problem of the last regime; lets see how these guys do, before we throw them under the bus.
I've been an ISU fan since 1968. This isn't the first time I've been disappointed, and I guarantee it won't be the last.

Re: Goodbye bandwagon fans
I could not believe the mass exodus with about 8 minutes to go in the game.

Re: Goodbye bandwagon fans
I don't like bandwagon fans any more than the next guy, but hopefully we just have some emotional fans, who will calm down a little and gain perspective, then be right back there next week. That seems to be a tendency of younger people. I wasn't able to go last night, and was wrapped up in other things, so I've only heard bits and pieces of the radio broadcast, read threads on the internet and so forth. But I have heard some really encouraging things. This is the first game of a new system, with totally revamped lines on both sides of the ball. Kent St. is an ascending MAC program, in the third year under a good coach, with some quality kids. It sounds like the offensive line did better than I expected. It sounds like the defense was able to make some plays, and it sounds like the offense was able to move the ball in the air, and on the ground at times. If our main problem last night was consistent execution and cohesion, then that is very understandable, and really to be expected. If the coaching staff is half as good as I think they are, these things will improve throughout the season. As fans, it's natural to be disappointed, and of course, I am too. But hopefully everyone remembers that a key component to every team is confidence, and part of that comes from the fans to the players. -

I didn't expect instant results, just maybe a better performance out of Meyer. I can't wait to get back out there again next week.

Re: Goodbye bandwagon fans
I had a 3 year old with pre school in the morning and a 1st grader, a 10 month old to pick up at the baby sitters house after a 2 mile walk to the car. Oh, and I also had to work.
Sorry if I made anyone mad.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

The mass exodus began at about 5-6 minutes left after Culbertson missed his second field goal of the game. The game was over. I stayed but I could completely care less if others left. Sorry if they failed to meet your expectations.

Alright guys, get off your high horses. What are you 12 years old?

Re: Goodbye bandwagon fans
The point is, it's frustrating that so many fans feel it's okay to abandon ship with so much time left on the clock. Games have been turned around in less time, and win or lose, our team still needs us to cheer for them.
True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Re: Goodbye bandwagon fans
No one should be judging anyone else. Quit feeding on each other.
Everyone there bought a ticket and only they can make a decision when to stay or go. Thursday night games are tough. Many have work, kids at home, travel you name it.
Do we want to encourage people to stay to the end and is it better, sure.
Does it do any good to nag people who don't, no. Frankly it just creates more problems. Believe it or not, these are good fans, donors, parents, etc.
You are not an atomatic better, or worse fan based on criteria like this.

Re: Goodbye bandwagon fans
Imagine how many people would have been leaving even earlier, had Kent St not had 3 turnovers in the red zone...
