I just want to see him take over a game. It seems like the really good teams have a qb that puts the whole team on his shoulders and carries the load. I just don't see it from meyer. I like him but he dosn't strike me as that kind of player.

Meyer's quarterback efficiency rating last year was 117.9 which ranked him 10th among the Big 12 starting quarterbacks. His number from last night was 111.9, so he will need big improvement to even approach the top half of the QB stats in the league.

Meyer's post-game interview just says to me that he feels the weight of the world on his shoulders and is cracking under the pressure.
Start him for UNI, and if he is having troubles, bench him and let Arnaud have a shot. Maybe after a few offensive series put him back in and see what happens. But we need to make sure we have the best QB out there, and I'm not sure Meyer is the best QB out there if he feels like he is under so much pressure.
I have to say that I was disappointed in Bret too. I guess I overestimated him...I'd give him one more chance to pull things together during the UNI game, but if he isn't doing well, put Arnaud in. Depending on how Arnaud does, we could put Meyer in later in the game and see if he will play harder after being out of the game. We need the best QB on the field if we want to win, and if Meyer isn't the one, a change MUST be made.
Ask any Iowa fan - the best qb is always the backup that hasn't played. I was diappointed in Meyer, but as a Bears fan, I am used to qbs that suck and still play.
He looked like he had the jitters.
I always wondered about that. I'm happy Flynn moved to receiver because he did a really good job there. At the time though, I never saw Meyer being clearly better than Flynn. I always thought they gave us about an equal chance of winning.
Meyer is really an enigma. One day you say WTF, i.e. @home against a bad Baylor where he passes for 0 TDs and about 200 yards, and then a few weeks he torches A&M at College Station and throws for 371 yards and 4 touchdowns!
I think Mac (bad example) used to say that there is a big adjustment between week 1 and 2 and that is when you get to know a lot about your team.
Too many posts to read through here but basically Bret needs to step up and play better because if he plays like he did last night much longer Arnaud may get a look as the starter sooner than expected. My take is this is a rebuilding year so I'd rather let a guy that will be here next year get some snaps if if Meyer can't cut down on the mistakes. Different year, same crap from him again. Ever notice he is scared of contact too? What was with the slide last night in the 4th quarter? You're a big boy Bret, take the hit and get a few extra yards out of it! Even when he's sacked he's practically halway on the ground by the time the guy gets a hit on him!
Don't know if this was said, but maybe we should bench Bret for the first few drives, and see if he gets eager to get back in the game and starts pacing around.
Then, pull Arnaud and throw Bret in there and he'll have that fire/swagger. He can get back to his underclassmen form, probably better guys. Theres something going on inside his head that none of us know about, only Bret can deal with it/fix it.
I know what's going on inside his head.
1. a totally new offense, plays, routes etc
2. new offensive line
3. new running back
4. people expecting him to be Payton Manning
Give him a break...watch the UNI game.
Unfortunately if Brett hasn't got it mentally by now....its probably not going to happen for him. :(
