What Pleases Me Today...
...Chizik took personal responsibility for the way the team performed and he seemed to be truly ****** off with the execution and effort.
...no names on the backs of the jerseys!
...gold pants and gold highlights on the jerseys! Unfortunately, the helmets have basically no gold on them so they look out of place...put some gold on the helmet or give us the new helmets now (since all versions have a good amount of gold on them).
...Chizik was very candid in his post game comments...I believe he is going to go about addressing the various "problems" we had last night.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -
come together
1 game into this new era, and everyone seems to be at everyone elses throat. a complete melt down by our entire fan base after one game. i don't think anyone is happy with the loss last night, and i agree with everyone that is saying we shouldn't be. i'm just as disappointed in the fans spouting off about how bad "we suck". let's face it-we didn't execute last night, and we may be in for a long year. if we as fans ever want to see sustained success it is going to take a commitment to this team and coaching staff for not only this year, but at least 2 more. i think that the chips are in place for our staff to do something special in the coming years, we just may have to bear through a few more bad games, and i am fine with that, as long as i see improvements week to week. i am still going to be ****** when we lose, because that is what fans should feel, but i am also going to be there tomorrow, next week, and next year because that is what real fans do.

Re: What Pleases Me Today...
Is it wrong that I am already looking forward to the game next Saturday? From the attitudes of some on here I should still be ****** but for some reason I'm not...maybe it's because football is just starting again and the newness hasn't worn off yet.

Re: What Pleases Me Today...
The gold-only pants do not become us. I thought I was starting to get used to it, but they're just so...Hey! We have new pants!
I was also pleased that Clone Zone held up nicely. Good to hear John Walters and Eric Heft even down here in crapsville Texas.

Re: What Pleases Me Today...
Oh, I'm always looking forward to the next game - not a damn thing wrong with it. If someone felt it was wrong, they shouldn't go/watch.
We played poorly last night, yet our coach isn't going to parade the guys around, coddle them and tell 'em it's ok. He's going to knock some heads together and right the ship.
Who knows, we may be the most improved team in the country next week. -

You're not the only one. I'm already anxious to get to the next game, and hopefully be able to do some real tailgating this time!

I am not looking forward to it. Unless they can really improve in 1 week, we are looking at another loss. Plus it is a night game, and I hate night games. They are just not family friendly.

I wish we were playing tomorrow night. I absolutely can't wait.

Re: What Pleases Me Today...
I'm not looking forward to it because I think it's an automatic win, more because we get to see our team play again (and hopefully improve). How in the world is a Saturday night game at 6pm not family friendly to someone who lives in Ankeny??

Re: What Pleases Me Today...
I look forward to every game. That makes the sting of the preceeding loss a little less painful. I think that we will see improvement, how much can't really be determined. UNI is a quality football team, and one that we could potentially struggle with. Still, I think that is a game that we SHOULD win. You know Chizik won't be able to handle losing to a I-AA team.
It would have been nice to see how we'd do on the road against a struggling, but still Division I-A, Toledo next week. The team just has to focus on UNI and do some damage. Believe me...I know UNI is good, but we're going to be a better team in one week...mark it down.

I just don't like getting home after 11, it is hard to get babysitters to stay that late.

Thats what we get for being all domestic and stuff. What happened to the days when we were young free men.

I think the gold pants are fine...it is the helmets (with almost zero gold) that look funny.
I'm just glad that someone realizes that our school colors are cardinal and gold (no matter the shade) and not cardinal and blue.

Re: What Pleases Me Today...
I was pleased with the defensive effort in the game. They wore down in the second half but the offense didn't do them any favors.
Did anyone else hear the stat on the postgame show that we had 31 total yards the last 28 minutes of the game? That is very telling.

Re: What Pleases Me Today...
I don't want to be one of those "throw it Blythe every play" guys but seriously, we throw one bomb to the guy during the course of the entire game?? Plus the one we throw was a borderline pass interference call/touchdown catch...just makes me wonder sometimes.
