Anyone else get regulated and harassed by the ROTC people in the north lots? The first time they came by we had to move our car back a few feet because it was over the line. The second time they came by they told us to move our chairs/tent closer to the car even after a tahoe just fit through fine. This was all about 30min prior to the game when the lots were full. I hope they aren't there the whole year.
I really don't understand why they are needed. If anything, bring them into the stadium to help out the situation.
We could of used them last night when there was a guy wearing Hawkeye gear (Hat and #6 jersey) in our section. I didn't know if he was going to make it out alive.
G7...not a problem.
Even when chadm was running around the lots naked, no one did a thing.

But the crowd in G7 isn't as uptight as those $250+ donors :wink:
I've personally never had a problem with the ROTC kids. Until this year, I always parked in the north lots and people who would take up two spots or block the lanes would irk the crap out of me as well. At the same time, where are you supposed to go? There's only so much green space over there. Are you supposed to tailgate IN your car?
We did end up meeting some friends in D2. And given the huge number of empty spaces even at 6:40 (and I mean dozens upon dozens), I don't know why they would be uptight about things. They shouldn't be looking for trouble unless somebody complains.
Exactly, after the tahoe came by and they told us to move. The driver came over and said hey these guys are fine we had plenty of room. For years we were fine without these jacks and all of a sudden we need them?

Next game, send them over to B6 and C6. Numerous folks were tailgating over two parking spaces or more or tailgating in the driving lanes. Did not seem to bother them that some fans entitled to park in these lots were not able to get into a parking space.Quote:

I sat right there last night in plain site drinking out of bottles. The did not harass me at all. A3 was empty, even 20 min before kickoff it was less than 1/2 full. Pitiful.
Honestly, I think it's a matter of everyone using their heads. Try to park as well as you can to open up the most space for tailgating. Think for a minute that you are not the only one in the parking lot, coming or leaving. Do what you can to make space. On the other side of the coin, the lot patrollers have to realizing that right now, tailgating is a very important part of the cyclone game day experience. Make sure things are safe and make sure everyone is having a good time. If everyone is safe and people aren't complaining, just let things be.
One of the ROTC girls parked right next to us and talked to us briefly before she went to work. I was drinking out of a bottle (beer bottle) the whole time. Have for years. Not sure where this issue of glass bottles is coming from?Quote:

Not sure where this issue of glass bottles is coming from?
My understanding is there was an incident about 3-5 years ago where a bottle was thrown/dropped from the top of a tailgating bus that struck a female in the head. The girl required some stiches. Not sure what liability ISU has but I am sure them stating bottles are not allowed protects them to some degree from being sued in our sue happy world.
Similar issue (from what I understand) caused the univerisity to no longer allow fans to hang out on the top of the buses/RVs designed for partying on the top.Quote:
