There is a "fan fest" for kids and their parents at the Bergstrom Practice facility this sunday from 1-3 p.m. There is going to be an autograph session and many interactive things to do. It should be a good time. Just wanted to get the word out. Go 'clones
"Skin it: Skin that smokewagon and see what happens!"
It was a packed "house". Definitely family oriented and I think the little ones love it.
I was over with the football drill at one point. Some kid with his mom walked up to the front of the line...wearing *gasp* an Iowa hat. I think he reluctantly attended with his Cyclone-loving mother and showed his displeasure by wearing the Iowa hat.
Needless to say, Scot Knock (Asst. Director of Football Ops) gave this kid a very, very hard time. He was quite the comedian and had most of the bystanders rolling. Good stuff.
10 years ago, ISU could not have gotten 15 people to show up at something like that, even if they were paying people to attend. Today, fans show up in droves. Really good stuff...
I saw that kid with the hawkeye hat. It was pretty funny that they were giving him a hard time, but I'd have to say he was a good hard runner once he got into the obstacle course. Maybe he'll change his mind when he gets a little older.
I had a great time with the family. This type of event is how kids become lifelong cyclone fans. I thought Jamie P. and Greg McDermott were so approachable and fan-friendly. I look forward to an even bigger and better fan-fest next year.
