Football Team Exhausted Early?

It seemed like the football team was exhausted really early in the game. I talked to a guy who was on the sidelines and he said that the players were sucking wind in the second quarter. If this is true, it really surprises me with all this talk about the conditioning they were doing. Please let me know what you guys think.

This could be one of two things... Either the lack of depth caught up really fast or the guys were actually overworked early in the fall...

Re: Football Team Exhausted Early?

It wouldn't surprise me at all. It's disenheartening, but at the same time this was the first game, and that conditioning can't be seen in a practice setting. Every program has players sucking wind in the first game or two, which is a reason why they tend to play cupcakes at the start of a season. Also, our D was on the field too long to keep fresh, something the offense needs to work on hard since it started a few years ago.

Through the fire and the flames we'll carry on.

Chris Williams said on M&M on Friday that the team looked overworked already. There is a fine line between underworking the players and overworking. I think for many of them it was a wakeup call with Chizik's style and it will take some getting used to.

Our D was only on the field 1 min longer than their D.
