Hawks sluggish so far

...at least offensively. Christensen is 2 for his first 8 and has thrown some very errant passes. Iowa defense is playing well, though.

He's 4 for 11 now....still pretty crappy. Young has decent stats so far. 65 yards and a TD

We have to deal with UNI first, but looking ahead, it seems that we are gonna need to put all our eggs in one basket against iowa: stopping their run attack. Make christensen beat us. I will like our chances much better. their D looks okay today, but there are holes there and they are also playing No. Illinois

NIU is a decent football team. Do you think we're better than NIU?

Is it just me or does NIU's quarterback throw like a girl??? Kinda hard to make a comeback when your QB is limited to 10 yard throws...

He certainly doesn't seem comfortable in the pocket and throws off his back foot.

maybe, maybe not...we don't play them so I'll never know for sure this year, but i think it would be close if we played NIU...but Iowa is an in-state rival so you NEVER know who will win that game, no matter what year it is.

They obviously have the bulk of their dynamic offensive arsenal under wraps for this game. No need to open the kimono for a game against a very inferior oponent with another national championship at stake. They'll unleash the full wrath of their overwhelming firepower when the time is right. They've done just enough to cover the spread by a single point with 3:00 left in the 4th quarter. Genious.

JOIN THE NATIONAL CYCLONE CLUB!

Jake looked very rough early, but once he settled down he was pretty solid.

And...it seemed like about every other passing play - one of the Hawk receivers was dropping the ball.

Lets hope they maintain their case of the dropsies for at least a couple more weeks.

Their OL looked good today and so did their defense. We're going to have to play out of our mind to beat these guys.

Jealous?

I keed, I keed. I was rather impressed with the game today. I was in fact preparing for the worst after seeing Kent State's game in Ames, as well as Appalacian State deal with Michigan (which is extremely funny by the way). I was impressed with Iowa's defense, and the offense was hindered a lot by penalties and dropped balls. If they can put a clamp on the ball a bit more in terms of actually making a catch, it could be a fun season.

ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds.

Re: Hawks sluggish so far

It's scary to think the only seniors on their offense are Sims and Young. And my brother the Iowa fan thinks freshman Javon Pugh could go in and do just as good if not better than both. Plus they have Shonn Greene coming back next year after spending this season getting his grades in order at a CC. But, as long as their receivers keep dropping passes, they won't do jack. But if they start catching them more, who knows.

Defensively, I think Iowa is stacked this year. They were attacking the ball today, hitting hard and wrapping guys up. Definitely a contrast to what they were last year.

Special teams could cost them, though. Guess we'll see.

Iowa's defensive weakness is their safties.

Iowa's WR other than cleveland and Meyers couldnt catch a cold today

Christianson played ok bad 1st Q better after that.
