I am excited to see Bass throughout the season. I think he is the first legit Big 12 RB we have had since Ennis.
You can all say I am crazy, but I like what I saw for the most part out of the offensive line. I know they made mistakes (false starts and missed blocks) but compared to last year I think this group is way ahead. I was extremely disappointed with the outcome, but I saw glimpses of great stuff.
I want to see ISU impose their will and dominate on the lines next weekend. Let's hope the D-line can stay fresh and gain an average of 20lbs apiece for the next game!

Hrmm.. was it special teams or defense though? doesnt really matter.. However.. some of you may be interested to know that Meyer threw his INTs on the same play call... I say we trash that play now

Thanks for confirming that though...and I agree, time to ax that play.
However, I do want to see more balls thrown to Barkema. IMO, tight end was way underutilized both last year and in '05.
We love to roll out...so where's the play (that follows roll out right, roll out right) where we roll out right, looking to pass that way - sneaking a tight end out to the left and throwing back to him? It's a VERY effective play.

When will Bret Meyer come out looking like the best QB? It's been awhile since I can say "We at ISU had the better QB today!" He makes the other team's QB look better by comparison...and I do have to say, I don't like his chances of totally outplaying Eric Sanders head-to-head. I really can't say right now if we will win or not, I seriously have no clue. I'll be there to cheer as loud as ever for my Clones, but I just hope that UNI comes into Ames WAY overconfident and we play up to potential (FOR ONCE) and bring them back down to earth.

UNI is also out for blood. They are looking for an ubndefeated season and we are in the way. Their qb is very expeienced and will do well. I predict our offense will be better and our defense will have a tough time. I say our d line still was pushed around by Kent State. No pressure after first two plays.

We are gonna need to get JJ rolling RIGHT away and often...Bret needs to get the pressure off his back for awhile to make plays, he needs things to set up and come to him rather than be forced to keep drives alive. I look for Bass to do really good things against UNI's D. I don't feel as good about our D, we have good players back there and a stud in Bowen, but we NEED to get pressure in on Sanders and keep him scrambling for his life.

ISUClones33, I am in the same boat as you in that I think we will see a great game out of Meyer against UNI.
I didn't see the KSU game; did we try to get Meyer going with some dink and dunk stuff? This seems to me to be what we need to do both for confidence reasons, and to simply get the ball in the hands of our team's strength, which is supposed to be our WRs.

I just think we have a bigger talent gap than most of us like to admit. Wins of any kind this year are likely few and far between.
While I'd like to think we were just "off" against Kent State, I'm not sure that was the case.
UNI will likely be every bit the challenge Kent State was and we will have to play an "A" game with few, if any, mistakes to walk away with a W IMO.

"was it special teams or defense though?"
As I posted earlier #10 was playing on defense, not just special teams.

These are aside from the starters. what is the "4S" and "8B" next to sandvig and bates? obviously it has something to do with having those #s doubled up but what do the S and B stand for?
edit: nevermind, all it took was for me to type their names to figure it out.

While I can't count more than 2 or 3 things that went our way Thurs night, I will say that Bass played very well. I have been looking forward to the day that Hicks graduated for 4 years now. I finally got my wish of seeing a RB that explodes through that hole!
