Here's an interesting comment from a San Antonio newspaper regarding Jerome Tiller. Jerome Tiller, Lee quarterback: With all the attention we've showered on star running backs Marcus Wright and Devin Thomas, it's easy to forget that Tiller, who recently committed to Iowa State, might be a better pure athlete than either.
Not that the 93rd-best prospect on rivals.com's state recruiting list isn't used to being overshadowed. Last year, he took second billing behind Travis Lewis and Jesse DeSoto. This year, the spotlight is entirely his. Wright and Thomas are pretty highly rated recruits. Let's hope Tiller is part of the first trickle that's going to turn into a flood of Texas talent heading to ISU.

Not to be a downer, but I have become fatigued by waiting for the supposed flood of Texas talent to come to ISU for my last 25 years of being a fan. That goes for Florida too.
Sure we want a few of these kids to come up...the ones who really want to be here like Ennis or Austin. We need a team primarily of Iowans and Midwesterners to avoid the problems with culture shock and homesickness/malaise. Haven't we learned this by now? Fans want to cheer for the home kids too. Not all kids from Ft. Worth want to be in Ames in February studying in some Towers study room.
It would be cool to get a stud Nose Tacke and rush end from texas. Any kickers down there that can make a 40+ yard field goal?

Some of our best players in history came from places other than texas and florida.. Chizik has ties though and this upcoming recruiting class should have a number of texans and flordians

It's a double edged sword, if kids in Iowa or in this region that have good/great talent they always take a look at a chance to go to the coasts for the good weather and culture and it goes for any sport.
Just because their from Iowa doesnt mean they'll stay...See Grant Gibbs
No one likes a cold February in Iowa or anywhere in the Midwest.

If we want to play with all Iowa guys or midwestern guys, maybe we ought to think about joining a weaker conference. BCS schools recruit the top players in the country

I hate to break this to you, but Iowa is a tiny spec on the National landscape. To say you only want to recruit kids from Iowa is like saying you want a steak, but only if it comes from the ankle of a cow.
I love Iowa - born and raised, and proud of it. But I can assure you that recruiting kids only from Iowa and surrounding states would ensure season after season of non-competitive football.
| “My expectation of Iowa State is that we should be able to win games against great football teams. If I expected anything less, I wouldn’t be here, and they shouldn’t be playing for me.” — Gene Chizik |

We don't need the Seneca Wallaces, and Troy Davises, we just need more Jason Scales and Bret Meyers!

Hell yes, the recruiting state of Iowa is a football machine and the Kneebraskas of the world know it.
