We got all the way to 7:56 before anyone called in to say five times he was a hawk fan. And he was CONCERNED that in the past too much emphasis was put on the Iowa game and was ruining the rest of our season. He HOPED Chizik won't fall into that trap because he likes us when we're not playing them and only wishes us well!! And then one last reminder that he is a hawk!!

Lets not forget the guy that called in and said welcome to Iowa City... -
Re: Chizik Radio Callin Show
Of the stuff worth recapping... um...
Well someone asked at what point will he pull Meyer if he doesn't improve... Meyer will be safe for a few more games but he will need to step it up. Chizik isn't going to pull him immedietly... but after 3 or 4 games if he's still making the same mistakes a change may be in order
As for other positions like Running Back, no one is really locked in right now... Chizik will make changes from week to week depending on how people are doing in practice and what kind of schemes they plan to run. Basically, he's going to put in who he thinks is the best for the job that day - and thats something he doesn't want to change (aka he wants to keep that competition for playing time...)

Re: Chizik Radio Callin Show
There were a couple of callers who thought they knew more about the team than Chizik. "You should play so-and-so, he's really good!"
Someone (it really sounded like a young kid) asked him how they're going to beat Nebraska, Tech, and UT. Response was the usual "one game at a time" line.
Scales isn't hurt. About 3 people asked that question. They thought Bass gave them a better chance to win, and they're going to continue playing whoever gives them the best chance to win every week.
Nothing real great and no real revelations. It did remind me about how much I hate call-in radio shows.

All of this summary (and others I've read in the past) is why I never watch or listen to these. As a coach, it has to be quite painful.

"I Hope you didn't chew out the defense too bad, it was more the offense's fault. I think we have a good defense..."
"You should play so and so, I like him. He's a good guy"
"Can you do anything about getting more TV coverage out here in Cedar Rapids?"
<Some line about helmets, I liked so and so, and what are you looking at for next year>

Re: Chizik Radio Callin Show
From the sounds of what the recaps are saying it was all the same questions he answered during the weekly press conference yesterday. And anyone that has the clone zone that hasn't watched it, it was worth the listen.

Listening to what the coach has to say during the presser is much better than a Rag article.

Re: Chizik Radio Callin Show
I was mostly referring to the people calling to call in show I knew the rag got their info from the presser -
Re: Chizik Radio Callin Show
I think that they need to invest in a call screener. And make them give their NCC number prior to getting on the air.

Sounds like a hawk fan that is still scared of this game to me.
