Is this the game where we won at Kinnick? If so, that's the best Iowa State game I've ever been to. (A close 2nd is the ISU/Florida State game in KC)

Yes. It's the only loss of the regular season for the Hawkeyes, and a big reason Brad Banks didn't win the Heisman. He fumbled [just dropped the ball] twice, and Hinkel fumbled to ice our 36-31 victory, if I recall.

I watched that game at a friend's house who is a big Iowa fan and pretty much a ****** bag. It was just us two. I think we were down 24-7 at halftime. That was a fun day.

I think its at noon. Yes that's the game we came roaring back behind Seneca. I heard first hand McCarney absolutely freaked at halftime, to put it mildly. His best motivational halftime ever. The Florida State game was the same year.

I would give my left arm if we could replay the 2nd half of that season.

Are you in a position to reveal who told you that? Just curious.

Just thinking about this game reminds me of us deep in our own territory and Seneca rolling almost to the left sideline and throwing across his body to Whitver at the hash mark to pick up a huge first down.

I suppose it's rather sad and an indictment on our program that we went 7-7 that year and it was one of our best years in recent memory. I was in high school at the time in Hawkeye country, but I made it to Ames against Texas Tech for homecoming that year and witnessed "The Run" first hand. That was where it all went downhill.

If it didn't go MUCH better, I don't know if I could endure that again.

From 2002 until 2006, we've had two awful seasons and three heartbreaking ones. I don't know how we cope.

Good point. That year was tough (along with the other 2 you mention).

As to how we cope...that is easy. Alcohol.

I'd say a majority of ISU fans (excluding me) are also Cub fans. It's in their blood.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

I would say the percentage of Iowa fans to Cub fans are higher than ISU/Cubs. Probably has something to do with both fanbases always thinking it is their year.

I would say it's because a lot of their students comes from Illinois and eastern Iowa is big-time Cubs country.

I too heard what took place at half time and D-Mac did flip out, but only said two words, and throwing his clipboard into the wall.

    F you! (smash).

The players and assistants did the rest of the "talking".

If only that had happened more often.
