Revenue Sharing.
With all the talk of a Brand new Big12 Commish, what does everyone think sharing revenue like the SEC and adding a Big12 network where almost all of our games would be televised would do for our program? Not sure what money that would bring compared to what we get now. Probably 5-10 million more per year or so. IF big 12 network doesn't happen then I would really like to see them loosen the leash on the tv contract to allow us to be on more. I think that would help get our name out and get recruiting up. Just wondered what people thought of this.

Re: Revenue Sharing.
I think the Big 12 network is a necessity at this point. I live in Colorado now, and I had no idea that there was actually a network called The Mtn. it is all programming for the Mountain West conference. They had every team's press conference and at least 1-2 games a weekend.
On top of it, the production quality is excellent and their studios are outstanding. So you mean to tell me that the Big 12 couldn't handle their own network with the history of the conference. I'm guessing the majority of the people on this site couldn't name the entire Mountain West conference.
The Big 12 really needs to find a way to get better exposure, because at this point, it simply isn't good enough for being as big a conference as it is.

Frankly getting jacked around by fox the way we have, I'm dying for a Big 12 network.

Re: Revenue Sharing.
I would love the big12 network, but it should be on the sports tier.

Re: Revenue Sharing.
If the Big 12 Network becomes a reality, which I think it will at some point, you can be sure that they won't play the games that the Big 11 d-bags did. I would happily pay for that service where it belongs, on a SPORTS tier. CRAZY!

Re: Revenue Sharing.
The way it is now is truly absurd. The bigger teams get on TV more, get more of the money and get to become even bigger.
Totally flawed logic.

Re: Revenue Sharing.
more exposure=better recruits to all the schools. why would you not want this? big part of why the conference has dropped in talent and production in recent years. sure Knu, texas and ou are on every week, but what about the other 9?

While I am against Communism, and I think revenue sharing in any situation is Communist, something needs to be done for the success of the conference. I won't say that revenue sharing is or isn't the way ..... I really need to put my conservative noggin to work on this one.

Totally flawed logic. Not for the bigger teams. And they are the ones with the power.

- keep. Currently the Big12 is like the Middle east and is a dictatorship.
A bunch of poor folk and a few insanely rich oil families that get anything they want. If they would just relax on the tv contracts and not be such a-holes about showing games...That would be a start. Revenue sharing is sort of communist, but I can't stand it when they continue to deny others to make money and get exposure to their programs. That is Ahole-ist and hurts the conference.

I think aTm and to an extent Colorado are the keys to this one. Obviously Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska aren't going to want to share revenues. From previous threads, it would take 9 votes to make a revenue sharing policy happen. How much would aTM and Coloroado want to share their revenues for the benefit of the conference? If either one of these decides it's not worth sacrificing their coin to better the conference then revenue sharing in the Big XII isn't going to happen.

But this is an interesting dilemma. Still need to wrap my noggin around it before making a pitch/stand/opinion.

Re: Revenue Sharing.
Got ya...I just know something needs to be done or the Big12 lower teams are going to keep getting more distant from the power teams.

Re: Revenue Sharing.
The whole TV revenue sharing thing will most likely help the teams who need it a lot more than it'll hurt the teams that don't. Plus it's just one aspect of the financials that's getting shared. Each school still has to rely on their ticket sales and stuff as well, it's just that this one deal would be spread out to help a bit.
But as people have mentioned, hopefully a couple of those who don't need it would be somewhat willing...
