I gave Jon Miller's show another chance and...

It still is really bad. Really bad. I was driving back from a project site and decided I'd give his show another chance because I wasn't in a music mood. So I listened from 2-3. With all that is going on in sports; The Iowa/SU game, the ISU/UNI game, the start of the NFL season, the playoff race in baseball, etc; what does he talk about for 40 minutes of his show?

-He leads his show for the first 15 minutes or so talking about 1 single question from Ferentz radio show which was a caller asking why a certain freshman didn't play more against NIU. This was discussed for 15 whole minutes.

-John Cougar Meloncamp. Playing the guitair. Giving away tickets. This consumed nearly a mind-numbing 20 minutes.

The only remotely interesting part was he had some guy that runs a Syracuse fan site. Jon was bashing the message board crowd for claiming they know more than a coach does because of recruiting rankings and a couple of open practices yet he brings in a message board administrator to talk about the Iowa/Syracuse game...hmmm.

I don't even care that he didn't talk about ISU, I just cared about trying to stay awake! If his show can't be interesting the day of the 1st NFL game, an instate showdown between ISU and UNI, and Iowa's 1st homegame...when can he be?

I tried but just can't listen.

While I can't claim to be a fan (I have never listened to his show), he has said on this board the market won't allow for a 100% sports show.

Now, that I agree with. But maybe during certian times of the year, he should be 100% sports. Now would be a good time. But after April and until kickoff, I could see putting in pop culture stuff.

Not sure why a program that "can't" be 100% sports leads off a segment with a question on a playing UofI player didn't get more time on the 4th show after the game (or 2 days after the call in show; it is on Tuesdays right?)

put me in the middle of the isle on this one... but also leaning towards the 100% sports this time of year... but what do I know, I don't listen.

I agree with you here. The dog days of summer...there aren't sports to talk about but right now is prime sports time and he wasted 15-20 minutes in the first hour and played to do Meloncamp trivia from 3:00-3:15 (I forgot to mention that in my original post).

That would have been better than being bored to death.

Now I know why I like Marty and Miller so much. While I don't agree with them a lot, at least they are entertaining!

Does anybody else think there is a conflict of intersest between Jon Miller having a radio show and him having his own website? I feel the same when he is on Sound off. There are times I feel he is impartial but until he stops refering himself to Jon Miller of KNXO and *******nation.com I cant take a word of what he says seriously. Felt the same about deace as well. I dont like to see free advertising for crap like that (unless cyclonefanatic.com of course) on free radio, when others have to pay. I know radioguys aren't reporters and aren't held to the same standards but anymore its very blurry.

Jon likes to talk about himself. Next time you listen, listen how much he says I, me and we. He tries to relate everything to himself, it's actually hilarious once you catch on.

I enjoy the Jon Miller show. I just turn to music when he does things like talk about the Hawks or do old time music stuff. He gets pretty good interviews from time to time. At this time of the year, there's no reason why you can't talk football the whole time between high school/college/nfl.

I think next week he will get under my skin alittle bit. Hawkeye-Jon already said that next week he will not even pretend to be nice. So next weeks show will be typical Cockeye talk from Jerkeye.

Some guy was just on there bashing Chizik, JP, the new UNI's, and the coaches....

I thought Jon sounded a little uncomfortable and cut the guy off, he was one of John's buddies, helping pick the games. I really thought it was un called for I have usually defended him here...

I heard that. He said ISU's new uniform looks like a junior varsity team's uniform, and that ISU played like a junior varsity team. Also said that every time he looked at ISU's uniforms Thursday night he wanted a chicken mcnugget and a big mac. I don't care for the yellow pants with red, so I actually thought that was kind of funny.

Who cares what that guy thinks about our uni's. When I see Suckeye black and gold I want to put a cork in my *** and run the other way screaming.

Miller claims he gives both teams equal time, when in actuality its 70-30. Nothing more would **** me off during basketball season when he would give a complete 15 minute game summary on iowa and give ISU 5.

Anyone and I mean anyone with any sports knowledge could do a show in the captive Des Moines/Central Iowa sports radio market.
