Re: OT - DUMPSTER blows another one

I don't see how anyone can claim that any of the teams in the NL Central deserves to go to the playoffs more than four other teams in the East/West. I realize the Cardinals came out of that division last year. Oh well. I've seen enough White Sox games to know bad baseball when I see it, and its happening in the NLC.

I agree CrossCyed, but it's not like this year, or last year were the first time that this has happened...the NL West has previously had some really bad years, and so on and so forth...it seems like it's happening every year, just in a different division for the most part.

You're full of insightful analysis. You sound like a hawkeye pointing out the last time ISU won the Missouri Valley Conference.

Apparently we've both watched 2 Dempsters all year. Dude flat out is aweful.

This post verifies the Card Fan/Hawk Fan comparison to me.

First off, Cubs fans are the least ARROGANT fans in the world. Secondly, I have been a HUGE Cubs fan ALL of my life and I have never once said "if only".
Third, Only Hawk fans talk about how knowledgeable they are.

That being said, if the Cards and their manager can stay sober the rest of the year, they may just have a chance at it.

Maybe you should check out some stats before flying off the cuff.

Dempster has an ERA under 4, has completed 25 of 28 saves oppertunities and righties are hitting .182 off of him.

Here is a list of closers who have blown more saves:

    Valverde
    Borowski
    F Cordero
    Jenks
    Hoffman
    C Cordero
    Jones
    F Rod
    Wagner
    Weathers
    Accordo
    Fuentes
    Wickman
    Lidge

One has to know very little about baseball to say that he is awful IMO.

One has to watch very little Cubs baseball to rattle off a bunch of stats they just looked up on the internet and think they have some earth-shattering insight.

WATCH A GAME DUDE. Sure he gets saves. He gets them more often than not by being one of the luckiest SOBs I have ever seen in my life. RARELY does he not put a bunch of guys on base and raise my blood pressure through the roof.

Have you looked at the schedule? Cubs finish with 2 series against both Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, with some Houston and Florida mixed in. The only team they play with a winning record is the Cards, and they're one freaking game over.

However, if any team could tank with this schedule, it'd be the Cubs...

The stats don't suggest he is awful but he has picked the most inopportune times to blow saves...like today. Big, important game...cubs lead going into the 9th and lose.

It's like Bret Meyer throwing those 2 picks against KSU...he isn't a terrible QB but those picks HURT.

What a concept! Why stop there? Let's have the two best teams from the big12 south division play in the conference title football game.

Yeah, but haven't we just lost something like 5 of 6 to the Astros over the past 3 weeks?

On the upside, I have tickets for all three of those Pitt games in Wrigley!!!!!
