After I got home, I was sitting pondering our future and the players at each position.
BAM!!!! Sharp-stabbing pain right in my heart. It bent me over.
It only lasted a split second and never returned.
The first thing that crossed my mind: Damn, I hope I'm not throwing a clot.
The second thing: I better not die yet, I wanna see how this ends.
I've had this conversation before. What if the run to Elite 8 is as good as I'll ever see it?
What if me seeing my team get to the Super Bowl, only to lose is it? I remember my Pirates winning the Series in '79. I was seven. I guess it's my own fault for choosing these teams.
I feel the same way. Why doesn't the law of averages apply to college football. Shouldn't just once things break right and ISU has a good season? It happened for Kansas State, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Oregon State, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Illinois, Purdue. Why is ISU just fated to be a bottom dweller?
It really is depressing.
How many Clone fans have passed without seeing us win the North while thinking it imminent?
Is it better that they didn't have to see this?

I think that its ironic that next week we will be wearing jerseys to commemorate a game that we lost... Iowa Sate CAN win next week. That one win will do everything for the program and the coach. He needs to figure out how to win it. Can I say no huddle one more time? What happened to all of this conditioning?
I'm 21 and I've asked myself this question plenty of times. It's especially frustrating because the basketball program is going through the same crap. It'd be nice if one or the other was rolling to take the pain away. I found myself rallying around the women's bball and wrestling more last winter than any year I can remember.
Thanks for the laugh. It is the only one I have had tonight. I never thought that I would question my allegiance, but I am nearing my breaking point. Where is there justice in the athletic world? Iowa fans get to enjoy BCS bowl bids, Barry Bonds is the home run champion, Ray Lewis has a Super Bowl ring. Would it be such a stretch for fate to throw ISU a bone once? The '99-'00 BB team has been and may be as close as I will ever get to a championship team at ISU.Quote:
