I'll give you the no talent part but poor coaching? No blame to the previous regime for pile driving our program into the ground? We're so short on talent right now it's going to take 3 years to turn it around and it's Chizik's fault? Bottom barrel recruiting classes for half a decade and Gene's suppose to mold them into the '76 Steelers? Name one coach in the country that could've walked into our coaching vacancy and done any better than Gene?
60's and 70's??? Who cares! Those times do not matter anymore. What matters is how how you have done since 1990. That is as far back as todays recruits are going to remember. We are not Alabama, ISU has 0, none, no, not a d*mn bit of football tradition. We need to start winning and start winning soon, or it will forever be like this.
The discussion was about EIU fans that think football did not exist at ISU before an EIU alum brought it to us. Read the friggin' post!
Not trying to be a jerk at all...although it is going to sound that way. No coach could have done worse either! Two losses and one to a 1-AA program. That is not good! Trust me, I am laying this in the hands of DMac like many others. But having blind faith in GC doesn't really make sense either! The guy has never been a head coach so their is no track record either way! This is a frustrating time for sure! We just need to get through it and hope GC sticks to what he believes and continues to build the program in the ways he has seen programs built! That is not going to make this season any easier to watch though!
Fans have to have faith I guess...??? We have to have something!
But what is even more frustrating is, something is not working and we just keep doing it. Throw the ball deep, take some risks, gamble a little bit, we are going to lose if you don't and maybe we make a play to change the momentum.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin 1775
