I *almost* feel sorry for the Hawks
I already feel sorry for the Hawkeyes, their fans and supporters, for losing to ISU this Saturday in Football.
Iowa fans do unspeakable things in years when they lose to ISU, as it is their "Super Bowl" in years that they don't have to play the tough teams in their own non-divisional conference.
I cannot imagine what Iowa fans will do when they lose to a first-year coach, first-year system, and out-manned ISU team that is 0-2 against a MAC team and a 1-AA. The loss will be stunning to our opponents - the Hawks.
If ISU wins, Hawk fans from Cumming to Guttenburg will be rioting in the streets. They will increase security at Marshalltown Community College - as many of their grads are Hawk fans (and claim to be EIU grads!).
IF, in the slight chance that ISU does not manage to win, BIG DEAL. We have a first year coach, system, and while we love the kids currently in the system - the cupboard is basically bare. Thus, Hawk fans will still riot in the streets and Marshalltown Community College Security should still be on notice.
Either way - it's a sad, sad weekend for Hawkeye fans. I forgive them because I am a Christian - but they will find a way to be pathetic, regardless of the outcome.
As for my ISU brethren - see you at the tailgates & I hope we beat the other guys on the field! If not, there are certainly brighter days ahead - and we'll remember the party fondly - if not the game.

Re: I *almost* feel sorry for the Hawks
Heh. Good post. You're right about the Hawks making a huge deal out of the game either way.
"WE didn't lose the game! It was the [referee/coach/weather/injury/fans/stadium/ball/Big 12/band/concession stand/tailgaters/El Nino]'s fault!!!"
True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Re: I *almost* feel sorry for the Hawks
If we would have won the turnover battle, didn't have stupid penalties, and made our field goals. We would be 2-0. This team can beat Iowa. Will they? We'll find out on Saturday.

"WE didn't lose the game! It was the [referee/coach/weather/injury/fans/stadium/ball/Big 12/band/concession stand/tailgaters/El Nino]'s fault!!!" One of Jon Miller's buddies commented on this the other day. He said that at least two of the games had asterisks by them. I can't remember the reason for one, but the other was injuries. Pretty standard stuff for them. -
Re: I *almost* feel sorry for the Hawks
If Meyer plays, I give ISU a .01% chance to win......I am leaving a chance. This team should be 2-0 already, however 7 turnovers in 2 games have left ISU with 2 losses. SAD!!!

Re: I *almost* feel sorry for the Hawks
On paper, I give the edge to Iowa this weekend. And to be honest, it's not even close. But in this series, at Trice, an upset is very possible. It wouldn't shock me one bit.

You may *almost* feel sorry for the Hawks, but I don't. -
Re: I *almost* feel sorry for the Hawks
After we beat them 15 years in a row, then I might feel sorry for them. NAH!
