He obviously must have shown he has a real talent for returning punts in practice, far and away better than everyone else if he is given all these second chances. I've heard from players he is one of the quickest people on the team...just takes time. Its not like the entire rest of the team isn't experiencing growing pains, but you gotta feel for the guy, he has to be one of our evergrowing group of mentally warped players. Hopefully he can overcome this early trouble and have a great career here at ISU
Does anyone think that this dropping the ball stuff on these returns has something to with him being semi-afraid of being smashed into the ground by the oncoming defense. Every time I see him return the ball it looks as if he is wanting to start running before he catches the ball. Just makes a little sense to me because he has not dropped a fair catch and has only caught one for an actual return. I think if we could get him to wait and make sure he catches the ball then worry about running he would do fine.
He is a freshman and I am in no way his size but I'd probably be wanting to start running a quick as possible when I had that defense coming at me wanting to give me a concussion.
Just a thought not trying to say it is true, just wanting to know everyone else's thoughts.
It's tough because I agree with both of you. However, have we really seen what he can do? Or is this all he can do? I have to believe he's better at it than what he's shown otherwise our coaches wouldn't have him out there right?
I just wonder how his psyche can be at this point. I think he'd do fine if (and right now it's a big IF) he could hang onto the ball.
Yep. If he could also see the brown ball and know where the onslught is coming from and make sure he grabs it before he runs and put it away, he would be fine. Just a little more extra work and I think we have it down, granny.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
