I saw we put 11 guys at the line of scrimmage and try to block every punt.

Re: How about Scales as a Punt Returner???

Given his problems with injuries, he might get snapped in half trying to return a punt.

It's obvious ISU needs someone other than Sandvig back there. That fumble last week was a huge momentum shifter and a kick in the teeth for the defense that made a nice stop on the previous drive.

It seems to me that it would make sense to either put Milan Moses back there or put Allen Bell back to return punts and have Moses take Bell's spot on KR.

I would think RJ. Surely flat out speed is the most important thing. What about Wallace Franklin?

I think Franklin, while fast, would get broken into pieces.

Perhaps you've never laid eyes on the man. Not built to return punts and take those kinds of hits.

However, Tuba has the size to withstand about any hit. :)

How big was JJ? He looked tiny out there. Maybe he was short, but solid. I don't know, but he didn't look huge.

Re: How about Scales as a Punt Returner???

Perhaps if he get's his head rung from returning punts he might visit the buffet line and eh weight room next year and get ready for D1 football. You can't not a put a guy on the field due to poor size. If that was the case he should have commited to Drake.

Re: How about Scales as a Punt Returner???

correct me if i'm wrong, but...i'm fairly confident that rj did pretty well last year in that role. the guy can flat out run, has good hands and can take a hit!! are we jsut worried about an injury?

Re: How about Scales as a Punt Returner???

JJ was short, but not thin as a rail. I'm not saying Franklin doesn't belong on the field - he does...at least I hope he does. I'm wait to see that speed down the field with a football being thrown his way.

I just don't see a guy with his frame being a punt returner.

plus he might not be very good at actually catching the punt it really isnt the easiest thing in the world to do
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."
