Mike Brown out for the season

Re: Mike Brown out for the season
Poor Mike Brown, great player but can't stay healthy to save his life. I wouldn't be surprised if he retired.

Re: Mike Brown out for the season
That sucks. The Bears D looked good. The Offense did not.

Friggin ay already. That just ruined my day.

Re: Mike Brown out for the season
This is extremely bad news. Arculeta clearly is not good in coverage (he merely destroys the ball carrier) and Daniael Manning is still learning...
Dvoracek being out is equally bad. There isn't much depth at DT. What a shame for these guys.

Re: Mike Brown out for the season
After his past record, it's not a surprise and management should have seen this coming. He's had a history of concussions too so trading Harris was really a bonehead move. Any depth they had at safety is now gone.
I'm a big fan, but the Bears will struggle to get a wild card spot this year. Their D is still good, but no longer dominate with all the losses (Johnson, Dvoracek, Brown, Harris, Brown, Scott) and they have flakes starting at QB and RB. Don't know if the D and STs can routinely overcome the lame offense anymore.

Re: Mike Brown out for the season
Bears and Cubs have done the same thing when dealing with oft-injured star players and doing nothing to help the team should the injuries continue. Just amazing.
The once-steady part of the Bears offense looked shaky yesterday with the turnovers by the running backs.

They are my fantasy defense. Which means that if they aren't all hurt on the field, the team bus will roll a couple times. -

On to Plan B. This guy doesn't think this is as bad as it may seem. Plan B arrives a bit early on ChicagoSports.com -
Re: Mike Brown out for the season
It's a blow but not the end of the world. The Bears strength has never been lockdown coverage but rather line and linebacker play. The Bears have dealt with Brown's injuries before and they will deal with them again.
Mike Brown is by far a better player but Dvoracek's injury hurts worse IMO.
But I think the defense will be just fine. I was impressed with Grossman's play Sunday. He didn't try to do too much and played under control. The INT he threw was probably only about 10% his fault as Berrian stopped running the route and didn't even look back for the ball until it was too late.

Re: Mike Brown out for the season
It's funny that many of the people defending GC by saying two games does not define a season are now saying the Bears are sunk one game into the season.
Da Bears will be fine-the central is still weak and the NFC is still the NFC and the Bears are still probably the best team in the NFC. Everyone seems to think the Cowbells are going to make the super bowl this year, but they forget that Romo is errily similar to Grossman. The reason he doesn't have Grossman numbers is b/c he only started half a season last year. Give Romo a full season and you are going to see another good team doomed by a medicore QB

How much bad luck can one man, Mike Brown, have?

Re: Mike Brown out for the season
You gotta' feel for the guy. It does kind of **** me off that the play he was hurt on was kind of a cheap shot by the Chargers full back. The guy horse collared Brown to the ground to keep him from making the tackle in the backfield. The refs missed the obvious penalty as well.
Depth at safety is good. D Manning started a lot last year and is faster and a better coverage guy than M Brown. Kevin Payne, a rookie safety, also had a great pre-season and is someone the coaches like a lot. But, you can't replace Brownie's leadership and presence on the field.
Dvoracek hurts from a depth perspective but with Darwin Walker being a proven NFL player, the front four still looks great. I think Walker would have moved into the starters role really soon even with Dvoracek healthy after the game he had Sunday. Anthony Adams is a good DT and will see a lot more action as well as Antonio Garay and Israel Idonije.

Re: Mike Brown out for the season
I think Mike Brown's luck ran out after he returned Int's for TDs in overtime in two consecutive weeks. He should have bought a lottery ticket and retired.
