UI receiver Stross injured, will miss ISU game

Iowa City, Ia. — Trey Stross, an Iowa starting receiver in the season-opening win against Northern Illinois, will be sidelined at least two weeks, coach Kirk Ferentz said today.

“He’s got a leg injury that’s going to keep him out for a while,” Ferentz said during his weekly press conference.

James Cleveland is expected to start Saturday’s 12:30 p.m. game against Iowa State at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.

Iowa remains without suspended receivers Dominique Douglas and Anthony Bowman, who face charges for suspicion of unauthorized use of credit cards.

And yet I still dont feel confident about our chances. I hope Im wrong.

The TE and FB are my concern if they are coming out of the backfield/line as a receiver ... otherwise our "pass rush" should be adequate.

He hasn't played in either game thus far. It's not like Jerry Rice is all of a sudden out of the Super Bowl.

Losing 3 of your top 4 receivers, can't be good for your passing attack....especially with a rookie QB. Can only help...

Actually, he did. He had one catch for 5 yards vs. NIU, nothing last weekend.

Bad idea, seeing how Iowa torched Syracuse last weekend via the air.

Did anyone else notice that Northern Illinois lost their second game to Southern Illinois? Between that and playing Syracuse, I believe the Hawks are completely untested at this point.

Yeah they unproven, but we are proven bad... They have two great running backs, which will probably get 40+ carries. The game is going to come down to slowing those two down.
