Re: Dempster at it again
Cubs and Cyclones...separated at birth?
Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays. -
Re: Dempster at it again
Everyone keeps spelliing Dumpster's name wrong. Just like Bret or Brett.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Dempster at it again
Yeah, Dempster gave up the winning run, but the friggin offense had how many chances to win this and did nothing. I put the loss more on the offense.

Yeah, I agree. But still...

Re: Dempster at it again
I know we've got Cubs fans (too many of em in my opinion ) and I know we've got Cards fans (too few...) that all post on here...but do we have any Brewers fans???
I'm just thinking it's gonna be really funny here in a month when the Brew-Crew are representing the central as they lose the NLDS. -
Re: Dempster at it again

Come on boys, JUST KEEP HOLDING ON!
I said it back in April:
I don't care if it's still April. In my mind, the Crew are only 70 wins away from their first winning record since 1992. That's all I want. 82 wins.
LINK for proof
EIGHT MORE TO GO!!!

I jumped on the Brew Crew bandwagon this year when they were up 8.5 games. Since I follow Iowa State through thick and thin every year (mostly thin, unfortunately), I allow myself to jump professional sports bangwagons at will. Besides, you gotta love a team that has a sausage/beer house in the parking lot. -
Re: Dempster at it again
Cobs vs. the bottom 3 of NL Central teams = 16-21
Brewers vs. the same teams = 25-16
There's your season. Thanks Cobs. Astros were 19 games under .500 going into the night, and I believe the Cubs have lost 7 of their last 8 against the 'Stros. Lame.

Re: Dempster at it again
Next to Marmol and Howry, Dempster has been as good as their is in the Cubs bullpen...plus like the guy said before, blame this one on the offense. 0 runs in the last 8 innings, and numerous baserunners stranded...Lee flew out to right with the bases loaded on a 2-0 pitch when Backe had thrown 7 straight balls, and Jones flew out to center on a 2-0 pitch with the bases loaded when Lidge had walked the bases loaded. Talk about smart, fundamental baseball...not to mention the cubs gave up a run by having a wild pitch and a passed ball in the same at bat allowing the baserunner go from 2nd to home...just absolutely pathetic baseball that's been going on since the beginning of August.

Re: Dempster at it again
Losers find ways to lose close games, and winners find ways to win close games...it doesn't take a genius to figure out what the Cubs are, and this is coming from as big of a fan as there is.

Re: Dempster at it again
Can't really pin this one on Dempster. If the Cubs don't make the playoffs this year the blame falls squarely with the OFFENSE. The Cubs aren't able to score runs on a consistent basis.
The good news for the Cubs is that the Brewers have a very tough schedule in late September.
It's good to see the Cardinals are showing their true colors. With Duncan out and Ankiel being a head case again that team might be toast.

Re: Dempster at it again
Dempster wasn't a very good pitcher before they made him into their closer. He has always been living on the "edge" and with the long season, the edge is beginning to crumble. If the Cards can't win it, (obviously, now that the media has destroyed Ankiel) I'm a Brewer booster.

Re: Dempster at it again
Unless you have a 4 run lead I'm always nervous when Dumpster enters the game. And the lead was blown before he came in last night too but still is frustrating.

Re: Dempster at it again
Like many said earlier, the Cubs offense has been their problem the whole season. Here's the gameplan to beat the Cubs: 1) Score 5 runs 2) You win
