Well, the university gets money from the state, federal govt.(?) and tuition. I dont think they're stuggling for cash.

$100/year for the Alumni Association is not too much. You get the cool calendar with pictures of campus and discounts at a lot of places. I know that 20%? discount at T-Galaxy and the UBS comes in handy.

The discounts in clothing alone are reason enough to become a member.

'But I love the idea of the Sacrificial Lamb. . . There are consequences to actions. The point of the death of Christ is that Christ took on the sins of the world, so that what we put out did not come back to us, and that our sinful nature does not reap the obvious death. That's the point. It should keep us humbled. . . It's not our own good works that get us through the gates of heaven.'

CBS also offers the discount - 15% if I remember correctly... (Not many people used it while I worked there...)
Dunno what other discounts you guys get, but I have no problem paying for my Student Alumni card in discounts (then again, I live in Ames and we only pay $15 for ours... plus we get a T-shirt)

Actually, about half of ISU's money comes from private/corporate support. | Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans… I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care… I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it… let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

Unfortunately, though, it pretty much has to be that way. College would cost at least twice as much as it already does for students if that wasn't the case.. | |
