Question Jack Trice Re-Entry Policy

I recall reading a policy statement from Pollard about 1 year ago whereby he stated there would be no re-entry starting in 2008. Is that correct? Does anyone have the link to the statement?

There were pass-outs @ the KSU game, and re-entry was allowed.

Re: Jack Trice Re-Entry Policy

No link to the statement but once they renovate the concourse and add more restrooms/concessions/widen the path, there will be no more re-entry. This brings our policy inline with policies at other Big XII schools, and is in place both for secuirty reasons (Take the incident at OU a few years ago for example) and to help keep fans in the stadium (though security is the primary reason)

If I'm not mistaken, that project (Phase I) is due to be finished before kick off next season, so this is your last year of being able to leave at half time

Re: Jack Trice Re-Entry Policy

Yeah, I agree with Flag Guy, this is the last year of leaving. And so far these last 2 games are the first time I have not left. And we are in a lot closer parking lot than last year. I guess I am getting old and lazy.

Why leave at halftime? By the time you leave your seat, fight the crowd, get to your car and have a beer or 2 and get back into the stadium nearly half the 3rd quarter is probably over.

Yeah, just use the rest rooms in the stadium.

That is usually the point.

Re: Jack Trice Re-Entry Policy

Sneak it in. It's not hard and once it gets colder it's even easier to in those big bulky coats. And for "the record" not that "I" do or promote it since it's against stadium policy but I do "know" of people who do and have heard that it's not a tough task to pull off if you are smart about it. Going to have to learn how to do it next year it sounds like so might as well practice now.

Not that I have ever used said method (atleast not for sneaking in alcohol...) but I ingeniously devised a part of my wardrobe that ingeniously assists me in bringing illicit objects into sporting events in all weather...

(The object I have smuggled in you basketball fans would be familiar with - the dowel rod for my flag)

Re: Jack Trice Re-Entry Policy

Here is a copy of the e-mail from Jamie Pollard after the UNI game last year:

Oct 3, 2006

Dear Cyclone fans,

The spectacular ticket buying response of Iowa State football fans has been overwhelming. I want to personally thank all of you for helping us set a single-game attendance record Saturday night. We look forward to many more enthusiastic and record-setting crowds in the future.

With festive, record-setting crowds come special challenges, like crowd movement issues into and around our stadium. One of the issues that emerged Saturday was the re-entry policy at Jack Trice Stadium. It is, essentially, the exact same policy that has been in place for several years with the lone exception that re-entry is no longer allowed after the conclusion of the third quarter. We have shared this information with fans in a number of ways:

1. A letter sent by me prior to this season;
2. As part of our game-day policy brochure that was inserted with season tickets and is available on our web site as part of the Cyclones Gameday link;
3. Posted on sandwich boards at all stadium entrances.

Stadium security at facilities across the nation has changed dramatically since 9/11. As a result, there has been a movement – both in the Big 12 and nationally – to ban stadium re-entry for safety reasons. The only reason we have not banned re-entry entirely at Jack Trice Stadium is because of our bathroom and concessions situation. However, I can assure you that when the end zone is “bowled” in, we plan to completely eliminate re-entries, similar to the policies that most of our peers already have in place (including the University of Iowa).

Last season, the University of Oklahoma suffered a real-life tragedy at one of its games. An OU student detonated a bomb 100 feet outside the stadium during a game. He had planned to enter the facility – after the game had already started – with the bomb in his backpack, but it accidentally exploded outside of the stadium. That probably saved many additional injuries and deaths. I share this story because having to re-check patrons upon stadium re-entry creates unnecessary opportunities for potentially tragic situations like the one at Oklahoma. As your Director of Athletics, I have a responsibility to ensure that we provide our fans the most comfortable and secure environment possible.

In addition to the safety challenges, too many Cyclone fans left our stadium at halftime Saturday and wanted to return only when they realized Iowa State had rallied to tie the game in the fourth quarter. Our student-athletes appreciate your support. However, great fans show their allegiance in both good times and in bad times. Fans need to stay and support our team for the entire game.

Thank you, in advance, for your understanding and Go Cyclones!

Sincerely,

Jamie Pollard
Director of Athletics
Since this time, the Phase 1 plan has been altered to include the restroom/concession stand increases that were previously included in Phase 2. As previously stated in this thread, that should mean after this year, once you're out, you're OUT.

I thought the policy was no Hawkeye fans can come back in.

We have left at halftime of every game this year and were able to return.

Stamp with ticket stub.

Never understood the whole leave at halftime thing.

Stick around, relax, watch the band (the Star Trek show was pretty entertaining), and enjoy some of the sights (read: hot wimmenz).

As a Per Mar worker who checks people at the gate, it is pretty easy to sneak it in especially with large groups of people and I generally don't care as long as you're not stupid. The only thing that will get you in serious trouble is if you start harassing my female co-workers; that pisses us off and will get you arrested. And don't bring big bags or backpacks cuz those are illegal as well.
