Chris Williams Article 9/13

Mid-Iowa Newspapers - Chris Williams: Football games draw big basketball recruits

Interesting note, we're now recruiting 6'10" 3 star prospect Justin Hamilton for 2008. Here's a little blub about him from Rivals:

Making an Eastern swing from Salt Lake, Dave Hammer's Metro club had a hard time containing the Westchester Hawks at the Peterson Event Center. However, big man Justin Hamilton showed up to play. The 6-foot-9 power forward from Lone Peak High School scored 12 points in the second half with fundamentally sound play inside. He ran the pick and roll well and was rewarded. Hamilton played above his head and kept the ball high against a rather short Westchester frontline. New UCLA assistant coach Scott Duncan watched Salt Lake Metro all day.

We're also recruiting top 100 swingman Trent Lockett as well. and he will be here this weekend along with Clinton Mann.

Mann Profile: Clinton Mann - Basketball Recruiting

As always, thanks for the info Chris.

Maybe Vroman can put in a good word for us on the SLC fellow.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Re: Chris Williams Article 9/13

What about Pomlee? I have a friend that refs HS basketball and worked an AAU tournament over the summer. He said two kids from Iowa that could play with any kids from other states were Pomlee and Gibbs. He said that Pomlee was very athletic and really stood out. I would hate to let an in state kid like that get away. I know there may be health issues, but were not doing very well getting big kids so I would like to see us take a chance on him.

If we really want Hamilton and can't beat out Pepperdine and Weber State for his services, then I would say we have some serious recruiting issues.

You've never seen the Pepperdine campus, then. One of the most amazingly beautiful campuses in the United States.

Really? I thought Pepperdine was off the 405 on the way to LAX? It looked like a business high rise building stuffed into a dense part of LA. Is this not PU?

OK. After some research, what I see off the 405 is the West LA Grad building. Pepperdine is in Malibu on the coast and is indeed a beautiful campus.
