No XM radio coverage for EIU @ ISU
I'm happy for all of you who are going to the game/tailgating at the game/watching it on VS. Unfortunately, I will be out of the state and away from televisions, on a drunken horseback ride near my hometown in south-central Nebraska. Some might remember pics I posted last year of how my BS and MS in Engineering from ISU were put to good use by rigging a battery pack for XM radio to a boombox and strapped to the saddle so I could listen to the ISU vs EIU game.
Unfortunately this year, XM is not playing the game. I'm pretty p*ssed at this, especially since XM started covering the Big XII in addition to the Big Ten.
Big Ten schedule:
9/15/2007
Pittsburgh @ Michigan State N/A 12:00PMET XM 194
Buffalo @ Penn State N/A 12:00PMET XM 196
The Citadel @ Wisconsin N/A 12:00PMET XM 197
Central Michigan @ Purdue N/A 12:00PMET XM 198
Akron @ Indiana N/A 12:00PMET XM 231
Big XII schedule:
9/15/2007
Texas @ Central Florida N/A 3:30PMET XM 241
Nebraska @ USC N/A 8:00PMET XM 242
Florida State @ Colorado N/A 10:00PMET XM 192
I know ISU is subpar this year, but at least we're DI in a big conference, in a rivalry game. Some of these matchups are horrible. Perhaps they will add the game last minute, who knows.
I've called to complain twice and sent an email once. Please help me in bombarding XM in an effort to broadcast this rivalry. collegesports@xmradio.com

I emailed them for you. I will be able to watch it on TV, but as an XM subcriber, I have been disappointed in the past with their selection of games.

Akron at Indiana? The Citadel has a football team? Yuck!
I'll tell you what, I lived in Charleston, SC for the first 13 years of my life, and I didn't know The Citadel was anything more than a military school.
Those are some horrible matchups, btw.

I used to have XM...found that it sucks and terminated them.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

Let's just say if said merger actually happens between the two companies, I hope it's Sirius' lineup that prevails.

If having the Playboy Channel and Maxim Radio means you are blowing away XM's sports coverage then fine.
Without the NFL and Stern, Sirius is crap. Not to mention their music lineup is like having 100 FM channels -- repeats, repeats, repeats.

I've got Sirius and I'll be listening to the game on it.

Re: No XM radio coverage for EIU @ ISU
Yeah, XM doesn't have rights to Iowa State football games -- Sirius does. XM has rights to Iowa games, but this is an Iowa State non-conference home game. Defacto control goes to Sirius I believe.
I understand that XM is the official satellite carrier of Big 12 Football, BUT the Big 12 is stupid when it comes to media relations (as we all know) and allows individual schools to negotiate these things.

Email response received from Jamie Pollard:
"Thanks for the email. I can't speak to the Big 10 contract, only the Big 12 contract. The conference contract with XM is not for all of the games. Their contract is for a predetermined number of games for the season and than they pick each week which games they want to broadcast. It is completely their call not ISUs."
So keep hammerin' XM, I guess.....

Does it really matter? I mean we are ALL going to the game right?
