Interesting fact about Cy-Hawk Trophy

Because we all know that there is a certain advantage to a home game, I figured that everyone that didn't realize this little tid-bit would like to know it. While the Cy-Hawk trophy has been won by Iowa 36 times, and ISU only 18, 33 of the games have been played in Iowa City, and only 23 played in Ames. Could that be a factor as to why this series appears to be lopsided?

That and that 15 year stretch when the Hawks were a good football team and the Cyclones were not.

But then you have to include the years ISU was good and Iowa wasn't. I'm more interested in the series itself, which includes Iowa's dominnance.

Home field counts, Iowa has had it, and we haven't. Should that be taken into account or not?

I would say it makes a bit of a difference, but not the whole debacle of the record. That maybe gives them 5 extra wins, lets say, but that still would put us at 31-23 down. It is better, but still doesn't make us world beaters. I would take any extra win though :).

It looks like ISU is 12-21 in Iowa City, and only 6-15 at home. The Cyclones actually have a worse record at home in the series.

But ISU has won 6 of the last 9, and expect that trend to continue in the future under Chizik.

Anybody think it's interesting that this guy doesn't have the score correct for the 2005 game?

This was a game for the ages.

11-24-1906 Iowa 0 Iowa State 2 in Iowa City.

They held us out of the end zone that day too.

Is that pic legit? Did they really put the semi up on the screen?

I don't remember that, but do recall (with great delight) when they put a couple shots of the iowa fans leaving in droves early in the 4th quarter, and we all waved good-bye to them.

Are you on crack??? ISU 23- Iowa 3 was the score of the game I saw in 2005. What was it in your world??

Also, they did show that on the screen. I'm sure that is legit.

Looks legit to me.

That was quite terrific when there was a great yellow and black throng, exiting the stadium in shame, showed up on the Jumbo Tron.

I have no idea if the pic is legit. This is the picture of the score board I found in the gallery from the 2005 game.

Just like his picture shows, the score should be 23-3 ISU, not 17-10.

He's talking about the website linked in the first post on this thread. The linked site has the 2005 score as a 17-10 win for the good guys, just the reverse of the previous year. So, in essence, it is a mistake by the maker of that website.
