not what they are told but what they see. -

Was the crowd loud at the start - heck yeah. As I've said before - this game is bigger to both fan bases (as a whole) than any other game on either team's schedule.
If Iowa would've been beating us as Kent State and UNI had, it would've been just as quiet Saturday as it was the previous two games.

Just in case you didn't know... I'm a girl. -
Re: atmosphere
I still believe that Jack Trice would of rocked against UNI and Kent State if we would of been winning. Maybe not to the point that it was yesterday, but damn close I bet. We need these types of crowds when its cold in late November.

That crowd against Missouri a couple years ago was completely pathetic. I couldn't believe how terrible it was. Please lets not do that this season....

Re: atmosphere
If I misinterpreted, my apologies.
My point is if no matter how loud or not loud we are, someone always feels they know why some fans are better.
It was great to see the crowd and we were in in more.
However, at this point the fans have stepped up for 3 games ready for something to happen.
When it doesn't dont't blame the fans.

When it doesn't dont't blame the fans. Uh, FYI those saying the fans need to step up more for other games are including themselves. It is nothing personal dude. Maybe you get just as jacked for Kansas but it is quite obvious when year in and year out you see the frenzy we bring to the Iowa game that we could use that every game. People just don't care about other teams like they do Iowa. For God's sake we had a shot against Mizzou to go to the frickin championship game and were favored and the place wasn't even close to full...the november game we played against Iowa was standing room only and loud from kickoff until the end. The people that don't like to hear Iowa fans call it our superbowl don't need to stop screaming their head off against Iowa, they just need to bring the same passion to the mizzou, ku, etc games.

Not taking it personally.
Just suggesting it is time to talk about what is working.
For many these come accoss as overbearing.

Re: atmosphere
[said tongue half in cheek] The key to the crowd noise was the benching of that second stringer Sweet Caroline. I hope he or she or whatever doesn't see action again unless it's after the game.
By the way I had snow pants on for that Missouri game and still froze my rear sitting in the upper deck. Glad I've moved down below this year.

Re: atmosphere
In Hilton we pick up the team when they are down and get nasty loud before the winning starts. It is just something that without success has never really started in JTS.
Crowds have been great all year especially after an 4-8 season and a rocky start as we had.

Re: atmosphere
The atmosphere at JTS this weekend should be the model of what a game in Ames is ALWAYS like. It was insane. I got two hours of sleep Friday night, and my adrenaline was flowing from the moment I lit up the grill at 5:30. I usually base whether or not I'm cheering hard enough on whether or not I get a migraine during the game. My head's usually killing me by the end of the 3rd quarter. I had a POUNDING headache before the end of the 1st. (Which is why I don't drink beforehand, have a caribeaner for water bottles and always try to remember to bring Ibuprofin - much thanks to ornryactor for the Tylenol) I actually got lightheaded several times... what a great game.
In any case, the (non-football) part of the game that was my favorite was that we FINALLY got a CYCLONE...POWER chant going WITHOUT Jeff Johnson leading it over the P.A. (Don't get me wrong. The first time we did it JJ kicked it off and got the student section to do it. The second time we started it on our own.)

Re: atmosphere
I also thought the "cardinal/power" chant was awesome. We need to do that more often.
