atmosphere
what a game!!! in the last few weeks a debate has raged on about gameday atmosphere in jts. there have been quite a few on this site (myself included) that were looking for a little more out of our crowds. boy did we get it yesterday. where did that crowd come from??? these were not the same people that were telling me to sit down at the uni game a week before. these were people who if they couldn't see they got out of their seats and made some noise. i was so proud to be a fan of isu yesterday. that is what homefield advantage is all about-creating an intimidating environment for every opponent. where did the CYCLONE!!!! POWER!!!! chants come from??? in the past i have talked down of our gameday fans because it seemed like there had been a lack of emotion. i thank you all for stepping it up when the team needed it most. hopefully that was the start of the new era in iowa state football.

Re: atmosphere
Well the team gave us something to chear about. As Coach C said in his interview, the team had made it's own bed up to this game and shouldn't be surprised with what people were saying ahead of the game.

Our fans ALWAYS bring it for the Iowa game...which is the problem. We could help our team out A LOT by bringing that much energy and passion to EVERY game.

Re: atmosphere
I now expect to beat a pathetic Toledo team in their stadium. Their defense ought to give our offense a shot in the arm. My how things change.
Lincoln was thinking Big 12 championship. Now Holiday Bowl.
IC was thinking New Years Day bowl now Chick Fillet Bowl.
Ames was thinking dead meat, now we are spoiler plus.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: atmosphere
Time to stop this bull, that we as fans just brought it for the Iowa game and are now worthy fans.
This is life as it is, please stop feeling that fans need, or want to hear whey they are not good fans.
Support the team, stop tearing other fans down.
Off soap box.

Off soap box. I've listened to the 3 games this season. At no point in the first two did the ISU fans sound even close to how they sounded yesterday.
No contest.
The team gave them something to cheer about, but there is no argument that JTS has been anything close to a homefield advantage as it was yesterday for over a year.

Oh.... and that atmosphere happened with only 49,516 people. Wow.... Unbelievable. That ticket thing really hurt the crowd didn't it. HA.....

Re: atmosphere
Think us winning for 99% of the game had anything to do with the fans being loud?
Anyone...anyone...?

If we, as fans, put that kind of energy out there for Missouri, etc we can help the team BIG TIME. It is not a dis on our fans more as a matter of fact. If you can HONESTLY tell me that our fans bring the passion and energy they do against iowa to any other game then i guess i am watching and listening to a different crowd than you are.

Anyone...anyone...? We are not that loud for the team at KICKOFF against any other team...as in before we were ahead or even thought we would be ahead. Our fans love this game and we need to learn to love to beat KU, KSU, MU, etc in the same way...the only other team we as fans bring it that hard against is nebraska and it is time for that to change.

Re: atmosphere
I've been to all 3 games and I thought the crowd was very loud for all 3 games but the Iowa game was constant. Probably has a lot to do with how the team was playing. I've seen some of the largest stadiums/fan bases very quiet when their team is losing.

Ames was thinking dead meat, now we are spoiler plus. NU is still going to the big 12 championship game.
Iowa fans were still talking new years day bowl on hawkeyenation today. They probably will get there, the big10 is baaaaad this year.

Off soap box. i think what i wrote may have been misunderstood here. i was actally praising the fans for their effort yesterday and urging them to continue to bring it like this for every home game. this crowd was definately more jacked then it had been a week earlier from start to finish. yeah, im sure the fact that we were winning made a difference-the fact that we were winning against mighty iowa. if we were winning 12-10 against uni with 3 minutes in the third quarter last week do you honestly think we would have made that noise? i guess we will never know. hopefully we can just be winning every time we play at home since that is the only way our crowd will ever be that loud again...

The problem with the ISU fanbase is when it gets cold, they stay home. Get some snowpants and get your a$$es in the seats!
