22-You could help me out being a technology guru-
I've got it on DVR- any idea how I can get it on DVD or Youtube?
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -

No idea...have never dealt with that.

Re: Versus Reply - Iowa vs ISU
Your DVR has to be networked to a PC so you can pull the original stored file or you can connect it to your PC with video capture card to create a file to share.

I have been researching how to do this since I bought a PC imbedded TV tuner card (aka a DVR or PVR). It seems as if it should be easy, but since the files run through 'Windows Media Center' it's not like it's a simple click and drag. It's also very tough thing to figure out based on user guides or over the internet. If you could explain the steps from there, I could post the entire game for everyone's viewing pleasure. -

If you can make it into a torrent and put it on piratebay.org, we would appreciate it.

I keep hearing the word 'torrent', but please enlighten those of us who aren't tech guys. I can do this for sure, but I'd also like to figure out a simple conversion to video files and ultimately post cyclone stuff on youtube.

Re: Versus Reply - Iowa vs ISU
Torrents is a P2P service that is completely dependent on the users. There are several users that are "seeders" who have the entire file themselves. They use their own internet connection to upload to other users requesting the file ("leechers"). The benefit of this service is that there is no central server spreading the file around, and the network exists solely based on the users helping to spead the file.
The only downside is that it's relatively easy for companies to see the IPs of those who are participating in the torrent. This is only if it's listed on a public tracker, however. If we kept the torrent to ourselves, there'd be no way for the company to obtain the torrent file to see who is sending files over the torrent.

Re: Versus Reply - Iowa vs ISU
Last night I sent an e-mail to VS asking about a replay or purchasing a DVD of the game, I'll post the information when I hear back.

Re: Versus Reply - Iowa vs ISU
Thanks for the insight. My problem is I can't find the root file for these recorded shows that run in the separate program. It's Vista's way of trying to make things less complicated (but indeed makes it more complicated.)
I know somewhere these have to be found on my hard drive, but it's not as easy as it sounds. Based on your comments, I'd need to find the root file to upload the torrent the same way I'd upload to youtube or another video site...
I'll do some more research when I get home tonight. Sorry for the wait.

What program do I need to download to view downloaded torrents?

Is there going to be a reply on Mediacom? I'd at least like to see that.

Originally Posted by JHudd What program do I need to download to view downloaded torrents? You actually need something like azureus to download the video. Once it's dowloaded(probably an avi file), something like your windows media player will play it or you can burn it to DVD if you have the correct software. They don't make it easy.
Summary
#1 Download software like azureus (free)
#2 go to a bit torrent search engine like isohunt or piratebay and find the file
#3 Click on the file and Azureus will start downloading
#4 Once the file is done downloading it will appear on your PC where you can watch it
If you want to burn it to DVD then you'll need software like DVD flick (free)
