I'm not a Bonds fan but until anyone can PROVE with evidence that he did roids you can't put an * on that record right now. Should we go back and put *'s on McGwire's and Sosa's HR totals of 1998 too while we are at it? I need to stop now before we beat this dead horse some more probably... I'm a fan of baseball, I hate that some of these records may be tainted because of roid use but in all fairness I don't think you can discredit a record unless you can prove it. Besides, he's probably not going to hold the record long, A-Rod will probably pass it.

The size of Bonds' forehead and his obsession for cream aren't enough to hang him with an oversized noose (because it'd have to be large enough to get over his dome)? Just because Someone says they didn't do something doesn't mean they didn't actually do it. Vick said he didn't fight dogs and look where that ended up. OJ says he didn't murder his wife and yet he comes up with a book "How I would have done it." Legally Bonds may be scot-free (for who knows how long), but in the court of public opinion, Bonds has been tried, convicted, and sentenced. And the HOF belongs to public opinion, not the legal system.
As far as having to asterisk McGwire and Sosa, you wouldn't have to, because Bonds owns that record as well. |

Sosa is the only player to hit 50+ dingers 4 consecutive seasons. They still show up on the list of career leaders and are or will be hall of fame eligible. I'm just sick of the double standards because if Bonds weren't breaking records people wouldn't care as much. The past decade or 2 should probably just have it's own recordbook as the steriod era because I'm sure we'd be shocked if we knew just how many and who else were on the juice during that time. Bonds probably hit some of those homers against juiced pitchers I'm sure. How about we take Jason Giambi's MVP away from him since he admitted to taking roids? There are more examples than just Bonds.

Baseball needs to fix itself before all its records are meaningless and the current taint blossoms into full-blown ruin. Sadly, I'm becoming less a fan of MLB with each passing season and I'm far from alone. | Walk hard
