Hawks already thinking up excuses for L to Wisc...

Looks like in this article by Randy Peterson from the DMReg. he is already trying to excuse an Iowa loss because this is Wisconsin's Super Bowl too.

How can Iowa ever win another game when everyone dedicates all of their energy to beating them.

At least if the hawks are able to lose to Wisconsin 15-13 they will get some national respect out of it.

Why do they need an excuse? Wisconsin is a better team and should win that game.

Trying to help out our close associates:

Hawks lose because they will eat too much cheese on way to Madison.

Hawks lose since cold front slipped through the area.

Hawks lose since they forgot to load the Twinkies and Cupcake snacks on their team plane.

Hawks lose because they were looking forward to forgetting last week.

Hawks lose because God does not like Jim Zabel that much.

Hawks lose because footballs do not spiral very well in Campo Randall stadium.

Hawks lose because they have a soph qb who forgot to wear his jock strap.

Since UW is a 7.5 favorite, and Iowa lost to ISU, and it's in Madison, and Iowa hasn't played a good team yet, I'm not sure if any Hawk fans are really trying to make excuses. This is one of those games that Iowa may be expected to lose.

WHAT??? Hawk fans are EXPECTING to lose? Has hell frozen over? Are the pigs flying yet? Have the cows come home? They must be panicking harder in Iowa City than we originally thought. Have the hellions begun demanding Ferentz' blood yet? When should we expect them to set up the guillotine at Kinnick so the beheading of Ferentz and his assistant coaches can commence?

I grew up in Hawkeye country, they will NEVER admit anyone is better than them. If they lose, they either:
1. got screwed by the officials
2. overlooked the opponent that they are vastly superior to
3. massive injuries
4.it's the other teams bowl game
5. all of the above.

Growing up in "Hawkeye country" refers to growing up around Chicago-wannabes.

I live in the Little 11 country just outside of C-U. Most people hear aren't even aware there is another University in Iowa. But an Illini fan, and lets face it - they have really sucked lately, says to me today... "Haven't you guys beat them 7 of the last 10 years? Hasn't this been there golden years?"

I told him most Fry fans would argue, but they have been pretty solid the past 10 years, and we HAVE OWNED THEM!

This isn't basketball. SOS is not as important in football. It doesn't matter good or bad Iowa does the rest of the year. It only matters how we do. If we win 6 games this year, we have a shot at a bowl game no matter how good or bad Iowa does. If we win less than 6, all attention goes to basketball.
