Just so I'm clear on this, Landis was nailed for testosterone, not blood doping - right?
Hamilton got nailed for blood doping, and that one was questionable from what I've seen.
And I think his alternate sample came back with a positive like the 5th time it was tested. Basically Floyd's defense came down to contamination and improper procedures in the lab, and some accusations of conflict of interest by the lab - and not so much "it was only one test"
You are correct, Landis was testosterone, Hamilton was EPO.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin 1775

Landis was testosterone. He probably had a massage with testosterone. It would be effective immediately and would explain why he did not test positive earlier in the tour.
Hamilton used an autologous blood transfusion. That is when you use somoene elses blood. If you store your own blood and use it later it is a homologous blood transfusion. I actually think Hamilton may have intended to do a homologous blood transfusion. He had a teammate test positive for an autologous blood transfusion at the same time. I think they accidentally switched blood. They don't have a reliable test for a homologous blood transfusion right now.
Vinokourov tested positive for an autologous blood transfusion in this year's tour. THey said he probably used his father's blood. Vinokourov replied "If I had used my father's blood all they would have found is vodka."
Rasmussen was removed from the tour this year as well by his team for missing drug tests and lying about why he missed them. He is also alleged to have used synthetic blood. A hemoglobin based oxygen carrier known as Hemopure.
A positive test in cycling gets you a 2 year suspension. I think it only gets you a 2 week suspension in baseball. How about other sports?
