What has happened to the KC Chiefs franschise?

Their team has been retrogressing the past few years.

This year the return of Larry Johnson has not changed much.

Damon Huard is not as good as Davis, the Ball State qb.

Jared Allen is a one man defense.

KC Royals may be a better team than the Chiefs.


So, let's build some new stadiums and we will fix the problem.

1) Bad Offensive Line - Best lineman retired in the offseason
2) History of poor draft choices Snoop Minnis?
3) Unproven QB/failure to invest in a QB
4) Aging/in effective WR's

They lost their two best lineman the last two years to retirement and had no plan in place to replace them. Retirement kills alot of franchises (see Chicago Bulls) because you get no compensation in return.

They don't make good player decisions. It starts with the recent drafts where they don't add quality players or depth. They had a chance to get Brady Quinn and passed and while WR Dwayne Bowe looked good today, Huard and Croyle have not looked good so far. They trade for or sign expensive and older players like Surtain and Law who are still above average players but not going to be that good much longer. The offensive line is getting old and banged up and they have done nothing to get some yound depth there.

At some point they'll have to do some major house cleaning and just start from scratch I'm guessing. They have some great talent in LJ, Hali, Allen, Derrick Johnson, Gonzo, and Bowe looks like he might be a good WR but they are really thin at above average talent at a lot of positions. Paige and Pollard have some upside in the secondary but they still have some flaws to work through. Wiegman and Waters are getting old on the offensive line and no one there to replace them and the guys around them haven't been that good either.

Nice win today but if they want to get competitive again they are going to have to make some bold moves and smarter draft picks.

I don't see them ever getting to a Super Bowl until Carl Peterson and Herm Edwards are gone.

Despite all of the talk about getting younger they have the 2nd oldest offense in the AFC, they had no plan to replace any of the retired o-linemen, and I don't trust Herm or Solari calling the plays. But, it looks like they may have found a good receiver in Bowe.

The Packers were saying all the same things last year ... now they're 3-0 and world-beaters. Houston damn near upset Indy and is a solid 2-1.

Fourthed. I knew right away that was going to be a horrible hire, and its certainly panned out that way.

I think the Chiefs also gave up a 1st round pick to the Jets for the rights to hire him.

I don't quite understand myself....every team I cheer for loses(Iowa State, KC Chiefs, KC Royals)....I must enjoy inflicting pain upon myself.

They moved to KC from being the Dallas Texans in 1963 after winning the AFL championship the year before.

I hear ya but at least 1 of my teams have won a championship recently. Iowa State, Cubs, Chiefs, and da Bulls! Cubs I'm praying can keep this hot streak up and carry it into the playoffs. It's gonna be one helluva party if they ever win this thing!
