SI.com - NCAA Football - Texas Tech defensive coordinator quits - Sunday September 23, 2007 11:11PM

The way they play defense, I didn't think they had a Defensive Coordinator!

The weird thing is they have Charlie Sadler there and they don't give him the D-Coor Job. He only won a National title as a defensive Coordinator at OU.

Is that the same Charlie Sadler that was here under Donnie Duncan? I was looking at some old photos from that era the other day and was wondering where he was.
I don't think he was a coordinator at OU when they won the championship.

Yeah it's the same guy. He also head coached Northern Illinois at one point also. I am not sure why Tech does not just promote him to Defensive Coordinator. He is good.

Re: Texas Tech defensive coord. resigns

I think along with Sadler, Duncan brought Gerald O'Dell who was the defensive tackles coach here(I'm pretty sure). And they had a grad assistant named Chuck Lester that had been a player at Oklahoma who I think wound up coaching with the Buffalo Bills during their super bowl years.
I should look it up, but O'Dell got into administration and he might have been the AD at Cincinnati when Huggins got into his troubles. I think he was the AD at Northern Illinois for awhile too.

Just great. We will have to face some more burning desire players soon. Maybe we can light some firecrackers in our kickoff coverage team. Who is our best headhunter on our squad at this point. If I remember last year, we had couple good players always down on the ball and one was hurt. Need some recommitment and player burning desire on our side of the ball also.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

I thought I would post this photo of Charlie Sadler and Kevin Eggleston from either 1981 or 1982. He must have recruited Kevin because he played on the OL and Charlie wouldn't have been his postion coach.
