The way ISU and most bands march it's about hitting spots and getting to a point. I watch ISU band and they march sloppy. There is nothing wrong with it. It is two different styles. The A@M band marches with Disiplin and it shows. I had a guy in my boot camp that was in the KU band for 2 years. He said it was way harder to drill than it was to march in band. Right on. It's difficult to compare because it's two completely different styles. ISU marches corps style and A&M marches military style. One thing that A&M has going for them is that they do the exact same thing every year, all year. They are able to just insert people into holes when members graduate. ISU does a new show for every homegame. It's difficult to be good in college marching bands because of the talent level and the time given to prepare. If you look at any of the DCI corps, they can do what ISU does, but with ten times the precision and showmanship. Either way, I think A&M has a really cool band and they are a fantastic part of their tradition. It's hard for me not to be biased though -

Re: Entrance songs.
I remember the A&M game, where their band played in JT. I didn't like their songs, but their precision was amazing. I do appreciate, as throwittoblythe mentioned, that the ISU band does a new 'show' every week. Having been in neither marching band or the military, I can't say which is harder or who is better, they both rocked.

They do the same style every game. They play their fight song every time. But the marching and some of the songs in the middle are not the same every game.

Without looking at the list, I can say that the best entrance by a football team I've seen is Virginia Tech. They come out to metallica's Enter Sandman.

Has anyone seen that big screen at Texas in person. That thing is a MONSTER!

Re: Entrance songs.
oh man, Va Tech gave me chills.... I loved how everyone was jumping and the little hokie bird was guiding the crowd during the chants...
I haven't been to a game at JTS since '02, but from what I've read on here, it's really frustrating. Why is it so freaking hard to get it right? by that I mean in timing, what song is played, what the band does... etc... hopefully with the new uni's and logo comes an entrance that gets the Jack jacked and isn't all disjointed and out of sync. How was it for the Iowa game?
Since the fan base was so vocal in getting the helmets changed to red, perhaps they can convince J-Pol to a common song/entrance scenario?
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. I was at the game last year... and caught myself watching the game on the screen more than on the field! it's kind of mesmerizing.... that was, until the storm came in.
