    Dempster...

Anyone who is still behind Dempster...why the heck are you not on this guy's case? He is the most ineffective, worthless relief pitcher in the Cubs' rotation. If I have to watch him walk the lead off man and then give up a 2 out homerun or double off of the wall to let a game slip away...I really have a hard time thinking that IF the Cubs somehow make the playoffs, he is going to be blowing all of the games!!!!
    Boom.....transfer the karma

What is the Cubs all time record vs. Florida? I swear they always struggle against them no matter how good or bad they are.

I forgot who leads, but either the Cubs or Marlins lead the series by about 5 games.

The Cubs haven't beaten the Marlins all year...

I hate Dumpster just as much as the next guy, but he had nothing to do with today's loss...they were already trailing when he came in...

    Re: Dempster...

Dempster hasn't been good lately...but if you think he's the reason the Cubs lost this game then you only watched the ninth inning...Renyel Pinto of the Marlins threw 15 pitches in the 8th inning, and 14 of them were not in the strike zone...the Cubs capitalized on that with zero runs, and a pathetic at bat by Jacque Jones to strand the bases loaded...you do realize the Cubs were down when Dempster came in right? You also realize that the Cubs just got swept by the worst team in the National League, and in those three losses, they never had a lead going into the ninth right? But if you want to blame this game on Dempster, I guess you're entitled to, lol...Dempster has been very shaky lately, but he is far from being the Cubs biggest concern at this time, and to blame the team's struggles lately on him just shows a complete lack of knowledge of the game of baseball.

Meh, it didn't matter though. The Cubs were down 4-5 anyway, it was just an insurance run.

You are right, I just got home from work and only got to watch the 8th, 9th. Maybe it was only an insurance run. BUT, what a downer for the guys coming up in the 9th, down 1 run or 2....I played baseball, I know how that feels. There is a big difference between only being down one run and being down 2. I don't even care about that though, it doesn't excuse him from falling behind 3-0 in numerous counts and giving up runs late in a close game! Ok, I feel better now. Thanks.

    Re: Dempster...

I understand your frustration, and sorry for coming across so hard...but although I think Marmol, Howry, or Wood would all be better options for the 9th...Dempster is still FAR from being the team's biggest concern. The bullpen as a whole since the all star break has been fantastic, the bats have been horribly inconsistant, and the team has really had some HORRIBLE mental breakdowns...this is the second time in two weeks where Jones has stranded the bases loaded where the pitcher had previously thrown 8 consecutive pitches out of the zone, then 10, before finally throwing a strike...how does he respond??? The first time, he flies out to center, the second time he strikes out on two absolutely pathetic swings at pitches in the dirt...it's not just Jones that has done this, but he was the one that did it today...sometimes I think these guys have absolutely no baseball IQ...when a pitcher has thrown 7-10 consecutive pitches out of the zone, TAKE SOME STINKIN PITCHES! It's common sense...also, how about Ramirez and DeRosa each flying out on the first pitch to end the game with the Cubs trailing by two and needing a baserunner, with a guy pitching that has walked 40 in 80 innings...simply stunning!

Dumpster is the best talent on their bench until they can recruit.

    Re: Dempster...

Starting pitching has been pretty bad the last 3 games. Also the offense failed to score on many oppertunities today. It's pretty hard to pin this one on Dempster.

    Hopefully the BrewCrew keeps losing.

    Winner might play the Rockies.

One interesting item is the other two divisions of National League all have .500 or above records against the Central Division, even the Giants. So. whoever wins, has their buddies in the central to thank.

    Re: Dempster...

The Cubs were hoping for a Smoltz. Dempster is NOT Smoltz. Enough said!
