I'd stick with what you've got there - good deal.
I assume you have a wireless network setup? If so, how good is the wireless card in the laptop?

I attend ILCC in Algona and was able to buy MS Vista for $40.00. I have not picked up the software yet, so I don't know how it works.
Spend the $$ and get a least a WXSGA+ screen
Don't be suckered into paying more than $400 for a laptop. There is NO reason to. If that's all you want, then why pay for some immensely fast thing that can move graphics around the screen at high speed, do 3-D stuff, etc.., if you don't need all that? You wouldn't allow a car dealer to talk you into buying a $100,000 Maserati if you only need to go to work or the store, so why do that with a computer?
Here's a good link:
Dell Notebooks - Dell Notebooks On Sale At Dell Financial Services
Click on "price" to sort by price. They had several for less than $400.
BTW-I don;t know why everyone is complaining about Vista. I use 2 PC's with XP (a fine OS in it's own right) and 2 with Vista home and Vista has been just as stable as XP, allows me to do more, and I haven;t had one compatibility problem.
Now Windows ME was a piece of Junk along with 98.
