Brennen Cougill to Iowa
Looks like Brennen Cougill committed to Iowa. Should be playing time to be had early for a center there.
We have one schollie left to give for 2009 if everyone stays? Is that correct? We have offers out to Royce White (along with about half the other D1 schools) and to Trent Lockett (only three other offers). A PF and a SG/SF. Where is the biggest need? With Mann on board as a PF, do we need a SG/SF worse?

Re: Brennen Cougill to Iowa
I've not heard much good about Cougill. The instate talent is weak for '09, and frankly, Cougill looks like he might eat some of his teammates.

He's 2009. Same weak talent pool for that year.

Your buddy SharpTalons on the Hawk board will get nasty with you for saying that. don't tell him some people have Gibbs rated higher than Gatens or that will spoil his party of Iowa now landing that top basketball recruit in the state 2 years in a row.
As I understand it, Iowa was Cougill's first High Major offer. As an Iowa kid, I hope it turns our for him, and could be a good fit as they are going to be very thin on the front line unless they bring in a ton of bigs in the 09 class.

*sigh*
Some people never cease to amaze me.
"Squawk fans are saying that since they didn't get this guy, he wasn't any good, isn't BigTen talent, and the in state talent is weak."

Hello pot. If you're talking about me, I was criticized for not being a fan of Mann, and that's also not the first comment I've made about Cougill looking like he accompanies Aaron Agnew to the buffet.

But in a lot of recruiting threads, I have read stuff about "I can't believe Iowa fans do this!"
When in fact, here's a group of ISU fans, doing that.
I know, I know, I'm just starting something I shouldn't be. This is an ISU forum, ISU fans will post what they want. I guess I just decided to show a bit of hypocrisy.

He is projected to be one of the better prospects in the 2009 class. He apparently was taking it to Iverson when they played over the summer.

Weve had several bigs commmit for the 08 class.
It is not surprising he chose Iowa for the 09 season.

I like this post from StorminSPank, appropriate name, on hawkeyenation.com
What's more important, IMO, is that we beat ISU for an in-state recruit... that's huge. Yes, Brennan has always been a Hawkeye fan, but it's still nice to see. He was getting a LOT of high major looks.
Hard to beat us when we didnt offer. Im sorry but he's a lil chunk. 6'8" isnt going to dominate in college like small town basketball in Iowa, or Iowa period. A lot of players get looks but, Brennan hasnt gotten a lot of offers, has he? Scout showed his list and it showed ISU, Iowa, Creighton, etc, and the only offer was Iowa.
Here's to another Blake Larson, basketball style.

Could this be a touch of jealousy?

Could this be a touch of jealousy? Kind of hard to be jealous when we spend every day looking at bios of potential players, and I've never heard of the guy. -
Re: Brennen Cougill to Iowa

Kid needs to get in shape.
However, we also have no idea of what he's gonna be asked to do in Lick's system.
