    Notre Dame = Hypocrites

Charlie Weis needs to go now. If you are going to fire Ty Willingham for not meeting Notre Dame's "football standards," you need to fire Weis now. These are basically his players playing and they're terrible. I'm not about to play the race card on this one, but Willingham is a flat out better coach and if Notre Dame doesn't at least put a lot of heat on Weis, there will be a lot of people (Sharpton & Jackson) questioning Notre Dame and rightfully so. Why does Willingham get fired for winning most of his games and Weis has a lifetime contract for sucking?

The biggest difference is that Weis has a contract until 2015.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

And Charlie Weis is a ND grad. Willingham was actually a graduate of rival Michigan State. Just something else for you to factor into the equation.

They locked themselves into such a huge contract that they have no choice but to let Weis keep feeding 'em pudding.

I think this one has everything to do with race at ND. Sad, but true.

    Re: Notre Dame = Hypocrites

I don't believe it is a race issue. I think that after Holtz, they wanted so badly to regain their national prominance that they weren't going to give Willingham or Davey much of a chance. Now they realize that they are stuck for a while and that they can't fire their coaches every down year.

They probably wish they wouldn't have extended him though.

I would compare the situation to Nebraska. After the success that Osborne had, Solich was set up for failure. That type of success that Nebraska had in the 90's was unsustainable and their fans expectations became unreasonable.

So you fire a 10 win Solich and replace him with a coach that is no better. I would doubt that they are any happier with Calli, but what can they do?

Actually the administration at ND wanted to keep Willingham, but he was unwilling to make any changes to his staff, and their was pressure from alumni to make a change.

Welcome to Bill Callahan's life. He certainly got up to a bad start at Nebraska.

Totally agree, I usually don't like it when people play the race card, but I get the feeling Charlie Weis could love every game this year and he will still be back next year. If you fire Ty Willingham for it, you've got to fire Charlie Weis for it. But as a HUGE ND-hater, I am SO happy to see them 0-5 and could quite possibly be staring down 0-8 start.

Obviously I have no idea, but I disagree. Notre Dame's problem has been and will be that they are still living in the past. All fans seem to think that they can win the national championship every year, but they seem to really believe it. Times have changed, and noone is going to dominate for years and years. If you can have a five year run at or near the top, you are doing exceptionally well. Weiss should get two more years to prove himself. I believe he'll get at the very least one more.

I don't understand how Notre Dame can be losing all these games. They have been able to attract some of the top talent in the country and yet can't win a game.

Is Charlie Weis that bad of a coach?

    Re: Notre Dame = Hypocrites

It has nothing to do with race.

Notre Dame thought they were hiring the offensive coordinator that was the genius behind Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. While he was the offensive coordinator, it appears that Tom Brady and a defense led by Bill Belichick had more to do with it. He had instant success at Notre Dame and they thought they had a keeper that was also alumni. They signed him to a ridiculous contract and are stuck. I have no doubt that some sort of changes will be made and they will be back next year. They have some pretty good recruiting classes.

Having said all that, someone will make it out to be a race issue.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012.
