YAC Yards

YAC: Yards after the catch.

My opinion as to why we don't get these is that because Bret tends to eye his receivers the safeties know where he is going to throw the ball. Therefore, they are right there to make the tackle if the corners don't. I also believe that part of the reason is that our receivers tend to just drop down after they catch the ball. This is understandable since they catch a lot of balls over the middle.

I'd love to see Bret look off the safety and fire a pass down the opposite end. Even a pump fake from time to time would be good.

Side note: You know when Bret is going to fake a hand off becuase his eyes never leave downfield. You know when he is going to hand the ball off because he turns to hand the ball off. I believe opposing safeties know this, which makes it easy to read plays and be in position to make a tackle. Thoughts?

Please note that I am not complaining. I see steady improvement. These are merely observations.

Re: YAC Yards

It's no secret Meyer lacks the ability to look off defenders, find the 2nd, 3rd, 4th option, etc. I can't recall a time right now when I've seen him pump fake. I'm sure he has, but being I can't think of one tells me it's far and few between. Or, I've killed too many brain cells via tailgating.

Anywho...Arnaud is much better at the fundamentals. We'll eventually see if he's better with decision making and field vision.

For now, lets get Bret one of those dark, reflective visors.

I like the dark visors, makes the players look mean. I put it on all of my players in NCAA football, I'm sure it helps.

But yes we need to hit more guys when their moving foreward, not just sideways or coming back to the ball.
