Re: Chizik-Starters are volenteering to play Special Teams.

if there is nobody on the team that can kick it deep, why don't we utilize a sky high kick to about the 20-30 to allow our guys to get down there. letting opponents start their drives at the 40-50 killing us.

Can Tuba Rubin kick? How about Kris Taylor. Those type of guys could pop the ball if they kick it.

Actually, the way the new rule is worded I believe the opponent would probably make you re-kick after a 10 yard penalty. Heard an official on Tim Brando's radio show talk about the new rule and how it would lead to more re-kicks.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Having starters play on special teams is really not that unusual. Nick Saban regularly used starters on special teams at LSU. In fact, a star receiver, Michael Clayton, was one of the most ferocious hitters on the kick-off coverage team I have ever seen.

You guys could guess who wants to play special teams... Mr Ace Bowen, Allen Bell... You know what, let them.. These guys wanna win and they will do anything to help their team. Special Teams have been killing us lately, But i CANT WAIT until Chizik gets everything tied together

Chizik eluded to Bowen saying something like guess we will have to let him play everywhere. Bowen is the real deal!

Re: Chizik-Starters are volenteering to play Special Teams.

Just think if we had our best players in the game during special teams. We would probably be 2-3 right now or even better. Frank Beamer at VT had a starting quarterback return a punt one time.

I didn't realize that so I looked it up. It's Rule 6-2-1. After a kick out of bounds, the receiving team can either take the ball at their own 35 yard line or they can move the kicking team back 5 yards.

So much for my thought that we could just kick the ball out of bounds. With the trouble we're having, our opponent would make us re-kick it from the 25!

I've seen several games where kicks went out of bounds, and I have yet to see anyone make them rekick it. I suppose if you did it as a strategy, they might start. Maybe just kick it right along the sideline on kicks into the wind, or at critical times?

frustrated!

Shaggy cannot run up and pout the m,etal to it and keep his foot locked. Sorry. He neds to do a dshorter run and locki it. What will he do when the ball is cold and wighing more than a log. The Nebraska kick split the uprights and travelled 90 yards. He was a walkon from Bosnia and a soccer player. It was a Nebraska fluke

You know, are there no real soccer players that are on campus at Ames????
