Re: More hate from Dienhart
What it with, journalists (if you consider Dienhart one) writing "word is" when did this become acceptable? Word is could be from anywhere, a source, message board, AD department, my arse. Seriously I think we all saw what happen to the person that wrote a lot of "word is" in a news article and then OSU head FB Gundy coach got a hold of it.
Has journalism started circling the the toilet bowl or is it just me. I am going to start sending in my post of this message board as bodies of work. Most are opinions but "word is" 4429 mcc has some serious skills and should be taken seriously..."word is" that he did his undergraduate at ISU but could of gone to Havard or Yale.."word is" he could of writen for the Chicago Trib but didnt want to.

He didn't have spectacular seasons, but we loved him. Chizik is paid very well to coach a team with mediocre expectations. Not a bad job to have if you ask me.

Re: More hate from Dienhart
These are not interesting names to me:
There are several interesting names not coaching this season -- Gary Barnett, Gerry DiNardo, Larry Coker. But the pick of the litter is former Minnesota coach Glen Mason.
Wow. These four are not on my radar list. Add Charlie Weis.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: More hate from Dienhart
Mason clearly has incriminating photos of Dienhart somewhere what with all the man-love he's throwing a coach whose been mediocre everywhere he's been. And I assure you Mason did not turn down LSU, Michigan St., nor Georgia. No one turns down those kinds of gigs to stay at Minnesota!

In fact he had publicly accepted the offer (Press conference and all) and changed his mind

He was average at best during his run at Minny. Take away Maroney and Barber and he likely is run out of there three years earlier than he was.

Re: More hate from Dienhart
I don't really see this as hate! dear god ISU hasn't won a conference title since the Titanic was still afloat (oh, my bad, we were division co-champs in 04) and there isn't a whole heckuva lot of tradition to build on.. plus the conference rivals with their huge budgets, enormous stadiums and overflowing tradition with rabid fanbases makes ISU a tough place to get it done.
I have to ask the question, is Texas A&M a step up from Cal for Tedford? It seems to me A&M is more famous for it's traditions off the field than on-field performance, well at least since I've been following college football. I don't really have time to look at recent season records of the two programs, but you gotta think the pressure to win would be a bit more digestible at Cal than Aggie U. Maybe that fault running right under Cal's stadium would be reason to go to a more stable area like east texas.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. If you are going to talk about college coaches, how about one of the highest paid who is slipping into mediocrity? Other random thoughts- Mason is a jack*ss, and none of the others that he mentioned get me particularly fired up either. The guy obviously was a Mac guy, and holds that against ISU now. -

Couldn't have said it better. Some people just need to take the Cardinal and Gold glasses off sometimes and realize we are not a program that has had a ton of success and tradition like some here seem to talk like we are. This is a VERY tough job. When was the last time we won a conference title in football again? That's all you need to know right there. As a Cubs fan I'd equate the ISU football program success about the same as the Cubs. Once in awhile you get a nice season but you can't sustain it or ever win that big game to get you over the hump.
The 2003 NLCS for the Cubs where they were 5 outs away from the World Series is about the equivilant of our 2 seasons missing game winning field goals that would have put us in the Big 12 Championship game.

All kidding aside, you are right. Once the hump has passed, things will snowball.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

I'd say it is a pretty tough job, no question about it.
