TDs scored so far this year

    Crabtree (Tech) - 14
    ISU (Team) - 11
Obviously TT has far superior offensive statistics compared to us, but you could pull any statistic out and make a case for the desired outcome of the game if you aren't looking at anything else.
Here are a few other stats for you:

    Offense:
    Rushing Yards:
    ISU 710, TT 434

Time of Possession (per game): ISU 32:21, TT 29:14

    Defense:
Quarterback Hits: ISU 12, TT 7

Rushing Yards given up: ISU 692, TT 810

Opponent Red Zone %: ISU 75%, TT 93%

Now granted none of those are absolutely eyepopping, but when you look at just these numbers you could make a case for ISU's chances on Saturday too. Numbers are easy to manipulate.

Good thing our stats aren't playing their stats on Saturday.
Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.

I hear you on that fact ISU22, the only problem with that stat i have is that we've had the opportunities, its not as if any defense we've played this year has simply shut us down. Its been our own mistakes either penalties, missed fg, or the big one turnovers....Thats what good teams do, they force turnovers and they limit mistakes. You give me zero turnovers against Tech and i predict a close game, we give the ball away 4 times watch out for the 70 something points by them.

We really need to consider kicking the squib kicking the ball, something with our coverage is not working....its obvious with starters volunteering for special teams that their sick of defending 35-45 yards everytime they get on the field.....

Mark my words, in this string of five games against very good teams, we will win one and maybe two.......

That would be the splash we would need to seriously help Chiz recruit!!!!

hoops31...I hear you...but the big stat is scoring.

    Tech scores. We don't.

Remember, statistically we beat Nebraska and still lost. Why?

Well, that would go right back to the message in the original post - turnovers.

    I agree 100%.

In no game this year, have we committed 0 turnovers. Just one game we committed only 1 - we got a win there.

All other games were 3 or more turnovers - all losses.

    4 games, 3+ turnovers
    1 game, 1 turnover.

You tell me which to reasonably expect Saturday.

I'd love it if that number was 0 or even 1. Heck, 2 wouldn't be bad.

The nonsense I keep hearing/reading from some of my fellow Cyclones about "we're a good team, we just keep turning the ball over" is crazy talk. It really is. Good teams don't turn the ball over at the rate we are.

We're a below average/bad team because we consistently turn the ball over and play poorly on special teams. Until that changes, we'll continue to be a poor team.

I think I've got this turnover problem figured out...

    1. It's really hard to see who is actually under those obstructive helmets.

    2. There are no longer names on jerseys

Answer: It's Mike Taylor out on the field fumbling and throwing the ball away. He has found a way to still participate in Cyclone athletics.

    Something to think about.

I agree...I'm not saying we should be licking our chops or anything. I am just hoping that we can use our obvious advantages (running the ball on them and time of possession) to pound the ball, slow the game down, and kill some clock (hopefully with some touchdowns included). If we can do that I think we can keep it close and give ourselves a chance (unless we DO turn it over repeatedly).

Re: ISU 15 Texas Tech 3

If Tech turns it over 0 or 1 time (which is their average) and we turn it over 3 times, we will get blown out. I would be anything on that.

If that makes me a Debbie Downer then so be it. I'm used to it after being called out for only predicting 3-4 wins this year this summer.

I agree. Honestly I think we need to win the turnover battle to stand a chance. You can spin the numbers all you want, but when you look at this:

    Scoring offense -
    Texas Tech: 54.6 (1st in Big 12)
ISU: 18.8 (Last in big 12)

    Scoring Defense -
    TT: 24.00 (7th in big 12)
    ISU: 26.2 (11th in the big 12)

I mean people have been saying Tech's defense is easy to move on in this thread. Guess what, ours is easier to move. Unless there is a drastic change in trends in this game, we will lose handily. There is a reason the oddsmakers made such a huge line.

But you can probably disregard this post, because I'm a bad fan for saying this.

Re: ISU 15 Texas Tech 3

Maybe ISU will get their game faces on and after this weekend it will be 4 games with 3+ turnovers and 2 games with 1 or less

Right now the odds are 1 out of ever 5 games we will have 3+ turnovers a game. At some point this season we should see the 1/5th chance come our way and have another 1 or less turnover game! Then for the next game our chance would only be 1/3 of a chance of having 3+ plus turnovers!! I'm voting for ISU making the chance of having 3+ turnovers a 1 and 3rd chance instead of 1 and 6 for the next game.
