What Would a W Over TT Mean?
I think it would be a landmark victoy in both ISU football history and in the spankin' new Chizik era. It would be a road victory over a pretty darn good TT team as well as a W that shows rock solid improvement in a game other than Iowa.

Re: What Would a W Over TT Mean?
I'm convinced there will be an upset coming soon. I'm just not sure if this is the one. Who knows. If they play the way they are capable of playing, and play mistake free, it could be. -
Re: What Would a W Over TT Mean?
It would mean many things: - This team hasn't given up.
- This team follows the coaches
- This team is improving every week
- This team is better than we thought and from week 1
- This team can play well on the road (even at N)
- We have a great coaching staff in place
- We will get great players to come here
- We should all bow towards the AD's office three times a day
- We will be winning more games in the next 3 years then the last three.
- It will bring confidence into our family weekend against TX
- The sun will still come up for TT fans
- keep.

But do you mean an upset will come from a more perennial powerhouse?

Re: What Would a W Over TT Mean?
We would have one less loss.
Did anyone see the poll on ESPN.com yesterday where you picked the big 12 north winner? Haha there were 5 options and I won't say who was left out...at first I was apalled...then I was like "oh yeah, we're iowa state"

Re: What Would a W Over TT Mean?
We can absolutely win this week! We have to cut down on the turnovers, have better kickoff coverage and score touchdowns instead of field goals. I know, a lot easier said than done, but I think we are getting better each week. The stats speak for themselves...we are in every game, we just keep shooting ourselves in the foot. I believe Chizik will continue to make adjustments and this team will continue to improve. We haven't been physically mismatched yet, which I cannot say about past teams. I think we can line up against anybody on the remainder of our schedule (with maybe the exception of OU). That being said, we could lose the rest of our games, but I think we will win three more games this season.

Re: What Would a W Over TT Mean?
I think it would be a pretty good road win over a decent team, but definitely not a landmark win. Tech isn't even receiving votes in either poll, which means they are ranked behind OU, UT, Mizzou, Nebraska, KU, KSU, A&M, and Colorado. And they just lost to OSU, so you could argue they would be ranked behind them too.
Nationally, Tech doesn't get a whole lot of respect for the 8 win seasons they consistently put together. Probably because they fatten up on teams like Texas St, Sam Houston St, Rice, Northwestern St, etc. every year. They pretty much have 4 wins built into the schedule every year, so all they have to do is go 4-4 in the conference and voila, 8 wins.

GREAT POST, Get ISU22 and CLONE42 to understand this and you've done some good work this morning.....
The thing that a win over a TT, Texas, Nebraska, OU even Missouri this year is that it brings a level of respect and optimism around the program and an energy that i saw at jack trice on several occasions this year that i've not seen in the past and that gets the recruits we need to turn the corner and eventually be in a position where we can get 2-3 4 star athletes in here a year, then we can compete.
You can match heart and intensity, but, you can't match speed!!!!
(case in point James Hardy against Iowa)...

Re: What Would a W Over TT Mean?
Have I ever said we can't win this week? No.
What I've stated, is pointing to facts that show it would be very hard for us to win this week. We'd need to play at a level we've not yet achieved this year. It can happen, however, I have not seen the consistency in our team yet this year required to get that type of win.
OF COURSE if we limit turnovers, play better on special teams and score TDs instead of field goals we have a great chance to win. That's the recipe to success for ANY football team (that and play good defense). I mean, c'mon...
But give me a game where we put those things together. Just one game...got one?
No.
And that, folks, is my point.
We are getting better, but marginally. And, it's exactly what I expected this year (minus the losses to Kent State, UNI and Toledo - thought we'd be 3-0 or at least 2-1 on those games). We're in a new system with average/sub-par talent, coming off a 4-8 season in which the record was better than we actually looked.
This one's gonna take time...I was fully prepared for that.
That doesn't mean, I won't be dancing around the radio when we do well Saturday or cursing it when we mess up.
