Yeah that is what I thought too. If you love her that much, take some responsibility and take her to Tuscon yourself. I am sure you can get some friends to watch the kids for a few days.

I agree that I would have found a way to escort my wife to her treatment.

I travel a lot and I have seen way too many times that people just go crazy over getting bumped or missing a flight. I even saw a guy get arrested for hitting a United supervisor in O'hare a few years ago.

If it has to do with United, the guy probably deserved to get hit.

The airlines are a joke, I still don't understand the legallity behind "bumping" people - no other industry could get away with that.

I have very little sympathy for this type of thing. It was obviously an accident, but could have been avoided if this chick didn't get drunk and throw a fit. It sucks that she died. She probably didn't deserve that, but ***** happens to drunken morons.

Why would this husband trust his alchoholic wife to travel to Arizona on her own?

It would seem that she has issues well beyond alcoholism.

Who acts that way?

And it didn't say she was travelling to go to treatment. Just a random "she was planning on getting treatment"

Honestly, sounds like a family trying to cash in on something that was entirely their (her) own fault.

The woman had emotional problems beyond alcoholism. She was depressed and suicidal. (Why she was traveling alone I don't understand

) She was bumped from her connecting flight from Phoenix to Tucson, then just snapped. Witnesses said she was irrational. Based on security cameras the police followed appropriate procedures when arresting her. In the holding cell she was screaming and out of control. The cops left her alone for 8 minutes. When she finally calmed down they went back in and she was slumped over dead. The sad part is that the husband kept calling to let them know not to leave her alone because she was suicidal, but apparently the messages weren't ever passed on to the police.

At the risk of seeming insensitive in a tragic situation, I have to admit I found it a little funny that his last words were, "I'm outta here."

I thought for sure this was about the Seattle woman who was trapped in her SUV for 8 days, because police refused to trace her cell phone "just in case" she had "ran away" voluntarily. Respecting her privacy didn't stop them from committing police officers from following the husband around, suspecting him of killing her, while he frantically drove around the countryside, looking for her. Of course, on the 8th day, they found her, still alive, a little under an hour after finally tracing her phone's signal.

Heard it on the Osgood Files last week, can't find it anywhere else on the 'net.
